" Do you think that we are going to find it? " I asked Nathaniel with doubts. It was a dark and quiet night, the thunders were roaring and there was no wonder that soon it was going to rain.
" I saw him putting it here.... " he replied while searching in one of the bushes found in this thick forest. The wind kept howling and I checked my wrist watch.
" it's 2am already and we haven't found anything! " Nathaniel didn't listen to me, he started digging the ground and still... There was nothing to see. He spoke to himself
" there's no way he shifted the box"
Yes, the box... It has the pills called M2V. I don't know how they were created but, all I know is that they have an alternative of changing a man into a vampire more easily and without pain. Oh yeah, the M2V drugs can resurrect the dead to life! Mr Hutchinson sent us to search for it and we must return it to him today if we still want to live.
Nathaniel kept searching for the box with no success and suddenly it started pouring heavily.
I spoke to him " let's go... There's no way we can find it."
" Cara have you forgotten what Mr Hutchinson said? We are going to die if we don't find it." He spoke with anger and wanted to continue searching for it. I held his bicep and spoke with emphasising tone
" can't you get it man, he was the one who gave us this location!..He even told us the best time to take the box. This could be a sort of a trap or something"
He smirked and raised his voice " why would Mr Hutchinson want us dead? Huuuh!? He raised us and gave us everything, aren't you grateful bitch? This is just a small favour that we have to do for him"
" Ooh really? Just the day before yesterday, I eavesdropped his conversation and I clearly heard him saying that he will get rid of us both "
" You are lying.... He can't do that to us. And let me make this clear to you, I can't betray Mr Hutchinson no matter what! He is like a father to me"
Just before I could talk again, I heard a gunshot and fortunately the bullet hit the tree nearby. I gasped with worry in the middle of the heavy rain, we didn't know where the bullet came from.
I pushed Nathaniel down,We both fell on the ground and another bullet flew in the air missing the both of us.
I spoke " how are we gonna get the hell out of here? I told you everything and you didn't trust me?"
" can you shut that fucking bowl of yours? This is not the time to fight! Asshole" I glared at him with anger and didn't speak anything. I swallowed my anger and promised myself to revenge when we get out of here. The gunshots were now heard continuously and we were able to see the attacker. Nathaniel looked at me and spoke
" Cara, I know you will be safe. You have to get out of here now!"
" what? What about you? I can't leave you alone,,, I mean_" he cut off my sentence and replied
" Do you trust me Cara?"
" yes I do Nath but -"
" Then I will make it for you"
" You swear Nath "
" I swear on the friendship we have Cara " we always exchanged our guns in any battle we face so, he gave me his gun and I gave mine to him, I loaded his gun with bullets already and I was ready to go. I looked at his green eyes for the last time and spoke
" come back for me Nath!"
I stood up and started running as fast as I could while the bullets kept chasing me behind each step I took, the rain kept pouring heavily making every piece of my clothes wet. I heard Nathaniel shooting back which distracted the attackers, they all focused on him. I kept running and panting.... My throat was dry already and my chest felt like it was burning, the thunders kept lighting making the forest visible. I thought of how Nathaniel will make it alive and seriously, there was no way he was gonna make it. The people sent by Mr Hutchinson were too many and they had many weapons....
I realised that he needs me. As soon as this thought crossed my mind, I braked. I stood still and thought, how could I leave him when he needed me the most.
I started running back to him, I was desperate to help him.
I ran and reached to where Nathaniel was. He was still shooting back though his right leg was shot already. As I reached the scene area, I started shooting the attackers and got some of them down. I squatted and continued helping, he finally spoke
" what are you doing here Cara? I told you to go"
" how can I live the man of my life dying alone?" oops! I never thought I'd be able to tell Nathaniel that I love him, we always lived like best friends.
" Fuck you wifey!!" I guess that meant I love you too..
" Fuck you hubby!" I replied still shooting the targeted people. We kept attacking and finally, we finished all the bullets we had. I couldn't run away and leave Nath alone! He spoke to me
" Cara listen to me, you have to get out of here! We can't both die here, you must survive to avenge me!"
Before I could reply anything, he was shot again on his stomach.
