Chapter 19 - Warrior Tagging Along!

THE SHIFTER WAS DICED TO PIECES!

I stood in stunned silence.

Gena and Akira had a reason to be scared. To be apprehensive. But I didn't.

Then why was I feeling so threatened by this presence even I couldn't detect?

A sharp breath caught my attention.

Deep into the branches of a tree, right by the Shifter's collapsed and demembered corpse, was a small blade hanging down. Or, just the part of a wide, huge blade.

My eyes widened.

I realized who it must have been.

"A-Akira...check it out." Gena murmured the words out. She wasn't able to speak. And so did I.

"Akira. Stop..." I said, taking a step closer.

With each step, I felt my heart racing.

Was it the same man that went undetected under my radar...?

Cyrus...

As my gaze locked onto the blade, the close I moved, the clearer it got.

The man squatted on a tree branch over my head. His icy blue eyes that shined like doom against dim moonlight looked down at me.

"Miss me?"

Words couldn't form in my mouth.

Suddenly, a sexy chuckle poured out of his mouth.

"Oh, come on~

I'm not that good looking either~"

Well...trust me when I say this, Cyrus.

Sijna was the most handsome man I've ever seen.

But Cyrus...he looked even dazzling.

A lady killer.

A head turner

A panty dropper...

The sins were boiling within me as I tried my best to not show. But Hell...was it difficult.

"Trust me...you're lying to yourself."

The words flowed out of my mouth without hesitation. I didn't have regrets. Never did. Never would.

Slapping my hand on my mouth was never my thing.

But seeing the blush creep up on his cheeks was rewarding as hell. It was as if I had control over him in this aspect at least.

With a blink, I could see the golden aura around him again. The blinding, golden aura that could set everything on fire. Especially my heart.

Only Sijna was able to do that.

Where was he?

Cyrus is really Sinja's...?

Couldn't be. I am too stuck in the past and it shows.

Turning around, I walked back to Gena and Akira.

"Hey," He jumped off the branch yet I paid no attention, "Aren't you gonna say I'm cool or something? That was pretty sick!"

"I don't help blow trumpets for others. Your mouth's pretty big for that anyway." I retorted. A silent scoff escaped his lips.

To Gena and Akira, Cyrus walked out of the shadows and introduced himself behind me. I kept walking the short distance nonchalantly.

"Low and behold, the one and only...Cyrus~"

Said he.

Akira dropped his arms to the sides.

Gena looked like she'd faint.

I just rolled my eyes.

"No. That's— you're not real. Nuh-uh." Akira said.

With a smirk, Cyrus replied, "Wanna touch my sword and see if it'll burn your arm off to crisp?"

My eyebrows crushed at that. Was his blade some kind of special material? Why would it burn an entire arm off to crisp on just...touching? Curiouso, Curiosa~

Gena looked at the big man that was towering over me. He looked breathtaking to say the least but Gena was making it way too obvious. With the two not speaking or asking any meaningful questions, I had to step in. Out of necessity only. Not like I wanted to talk to him and hear his voice or something...

"Well, Mr Cyrus. Clearly, you've been following us. My question is...why?"

"Hmm...let me think. Am I not allowed to protect my kind from the ones that lost their human touch?" I raised a brow at his answer. I didn't quite find it...quenching.

"We don't need protection from Shifters. We've got a geek (Gena), a Samurai (Akira) and a normal human (well, me). We don't need you tagging along."

I was pretty direct in my words.

I wasn't pushing him away. Pft.

Gena would wage a war on me.

I wanted to know his real intentions because clearly...his aura was blocking me from even reading his mind. The only human who was capable of deflecting my powers so far. I didn't like that one bit.

"Of course you need protection!" Cyrus replied so dramatically that it sounded fake. Mockery. Satire. That's what I felt.

"Not from you. We've got each other." I said.

"Yeah. Alright. I saw how you struggled against that wide-tooth webbed Shifter hours ago. Pretty lousy if you ask me. Could've i don't know...died if I didn't push Akiro or someone to lift the gun himself." Cyrus jumped his shoulders and said.

My brows crushed.

"Wait...you were there?

You helpedhim lift the gun?"

He shrugged again.

"Unbelievable. Did you dare underestimate my friend's strength?" At that moment, I felt super pissed. Akira will look down on himself now. But...

"I said I only helped him lift the gun. I didn't say how much. 11 ton, huh? My limit is just 2." My eyebrows crushed.

"That's still considered help." I argued.

"Not if I only lifted it with my pinkie. 100 grams at max? I don't know how much percentage it is. I was always bad at math." Said Cyrus.

I scoffed.

"You're a bigger jerk than I assumed."

"Honey," his silky, honey like voice sent chills down my spine, "You don't even know me like your friends do."

I folded arms over my chest.

"And how do you know that?" I dared.

"You'd be fainting like your friends right there if you knew me...

Devil's Daughter."
