She had been the member of the team that changed the most in this time period.
Having had time to grow used to and train her Mangekyo Sharingan, if both went all out, Shiki could only feasibly win against her by surviving until her dojutsu exacted its toll on the girl, enabling him to mount a swift comeback.
But a single mistake and he was cooked.
Not only was Mei now in her teenage years when chakra and physical prowess surged the most, just the surge of power from having awakened the Mangekyo gave her S rank chakra capacity and potency, matching Shiki in the latter and surpassing him in the former.
Her base physical abilities which had always been lower than his had already caught up and even showed signs of surpassing him despite remaining around the same rank.
It made the boy gnash his teeth in protest at the unfairness.
At this stage, she was a bigger cheater than him and he was the reincarnator with supposedly unlimited potential and an ancient lineage.
As for Shinka, the bundle of clothes she walked around dressed in seemed to get slightly bigger as she grew up a bit . . . probably.
Her mastery of her various insects definitely improved however but was still the one that changed the least in the trio.
Their sensei Inori was now twenty two and physically, she hadn't changed a bit though her skills had undoubtedly been refined even further.
Other than Shiki, which the Hokage insisted remain in the village, the others had already returned to active duty in the previous year and had advanced to Elite Chunin to match the boy's own shinobi rank, though even the weakest of the three, Shinka, was deserving of Special Jonin.
Moving on to the new faces, the ladies from the Land of Iron integrated into the Uzumaki mansion quite seamlessly over the past years.
Tomoe had taken up a position as some kind of stewardess and Mito liked to send her as a representative whenever she could not be bothered to personally attend a political function
Ema became a caretaker for the mansion and assisted the various denizens around at home, helping Tomoe with official matters and running errands for Mito.
Benihime gleefully became Shiki's personal attendant though the glee was very hard to notice on her expressionless face most of the time.
The gleam in her eyes told the whole story though.
Even Tomoe started to get used to this new life though she still had a wistful look on her face at times, no doubt remembering and longing for her true home.
Back to Shiki however, the boy could now delight in the marvelous status sheet he envisioned.
