Still smiling after using his invisiblilty power properly for the first time, Mies stopped when Noir suddenly approached him.
"Okay, so you can turn invisible kid. Big whoop. It'll take a lot more than that to deal with what's comin. Now then tell me, Kingpin is going to be sending a lot of mooks after you, so can you fight?"
"Well, no. I've never actually been in a fi-"
"Can you build a circuit board from scratch under enemy fire?" Peni interrupted and asked.
"I mean-"
"Can you swing with the grace of an acrobat through the air?" Earth-65 Gwen asked.
"Can you float through the air when you smell delicious food?" Porker questioned.
"Okay, stop. Enough!" I shouted.
Leading everyone to look at me.
"Are you guys serious right now?" I asked them. "Putting all that pressure on Miles when it's obvious the kid already has things rough enough?"
"Hey back off, we're just trying to make sure the kid is ready for what's to come." Noir retorted.
"By tearing him down." My Gwen pointedly asked. "And on that note let me ask you all were any of you, no any of us, truly "ready" when we got these powers and the responsibilities that came along with them?"
Hearing my Gwens' words all of the other spiders simultaneously backed down.
Given she had just hit them all in the sweet spot.
Except for me of course, given my unique circumstances.
Not that I'm bragging or anything.
"Well said my dear." I added. "And again, all of you back off. Since if you aren't going to give any actual constructive criticism then keep your mouths shut and let Gwendolyn and I get Miles at least somewhat ready for what's to come after we all go home." I said. Gently placing a piece of the horrible knockoff spider-suits he was wearing. "Such as hooking the kid up with a proper costume. Since what he's wearing right now is atrocious. No offense Miles, but did you buy this at the dollar store?"
"No." He immediately replied. "It was...the ninety-nine cent store." He told us.
Leading both me and my Gwen to give him extra flat looks.
"Okay, Miles, new suit, now." I spoke.
"Along with some proper web-shooters." Gwen added. "Unless of course you have organic webbing like Pete and I?"
"I don't." Miles replied.
"Then all the more reason you need web-shooters customized specifically for you." I told him.
I then took off the Earth-616 Peter's web-shooter and tossed it back to the man, who caught it.
"And on that note, you can have your web-shooter back chubs." I said to him.
"Really aren't going to stop with the fat jokes are you?" He asked me.
"I'm not only a Spider-Man, but also a Peter Parker like you, so what do you think?" I rhetorically asked him.
His silence being the answer to his own question just now.
"Okay, now that that's settled, time to get to work Miles." I said, turning to him once more. "Are you ready?"
"Um, actually no." Miles sheepishly admitted.
"That's fine." I said.
My words leading him to get a confused expression on his face.
"It's fine that I'm not okay?"
"It sure is." My Gwen said. "I mean, given the world you've just stepped into. It's a lot for anyone to handle."
"That's right." I added. "That's why not being okay is totally okay. In fact I'd be more worried if you weren't a bit nervous, confused, or scared. Since anyone who tells you they're not if they were in the exact same situation is either lying or has something really wrong with them."
"Huh." Miles mused. Getting a contemplative look on his face.
As he did I turned to look at Gwen. "You handle costume design and I'll make the web-shooters?"
"Sure thing." Gwen replied.
As she did she and I switched places.
She took up the position next to Miles, while I headed to start making his personal web-shooters.
Heading over to a work table once I had gathered all the materials necessary.
I then added the finishing touch.
Music.
Since I work much better with my jams.
So I started playing "What's Up Danger" since apparently it's a canonical and actual song in Miles reality.
Nice.
"Oh man, I love this song." Miles said, from where he and Gwen were standing when it started playing.
"Looks like great minds think alike." I said. While my hands moved like a master artist completing a new painting.
Similar to what Miles and my Gwen were doing, as they worked in his own personal spider-suit.
While the others Spider-Men just watched us from afar.
Most of them with contemplative looks on their faces.
All of which lasted until my Gwen and I were done hooking Miles up.
From his personally customized web-shooters, to even his own personal spider-suit.
Miles having chosen the red and black color scheme.
"Well Miles, how do you feel?" My Gwen asked him.
Once he finished suiting up in his new gear.
"Better. Much, much, better." Miles replied. Now standing a bit straighter and taller.
"Well red and black will do that for a guy." I told him. "Also great color choices for your costume by the way." I told him.
"Thanks Pete." Miles replied. "The same for the suit and web-shooters as well." He said.
"It's no problem. We spiders have to stick together after all." I told him. "Now then, come along. For there's still something left for you to do."
"What?" Miles questioned.
"Why, have your real very first swing of course. Your leap of faith as were." I said.
Before turning my head to the other spiders watching the three of us. "Oh and you rubberneckers come too." I told them. "For I think it's time we spiders had some true alone time. No offense May."
"None taken." She said from where she was working.
Once she did me, my Gwen, and Miles, along with all the other spiders started making our way out of the hideout.
All so we could make our way to our natural environment.
The big city.
