When Mia found Eleanor, the blonde Knight was gathering her last letters.
After leaving the camp of the Imperial Army, it was Peggy who first discovered these letters while searching for Aske. Of course, she wasn't interested in reading them thoroughly and handed them all over to Nora.
Nora skimmed through them for a while and realized what Eleanor had been up to and guessed that Aske must have gone to clean up her mess. So, she kept all the letters—after all, with the Squad Leader out to save someone, it wasn't certain whether she would die.
Thanks to her good friend, Eleanor's last letters were not read by everyone.
And the alive Eleanor decided to burn them all. It felt okay when writing them, but reading made her feel incredibly embarrassed, especially the letters to Aske. The blank pages were crumpled, showing they had been wet.
As for what liquid they had been dampened with, probably only Medea would wildly speculate, while others could guess correctly.
