Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Happy birthday, John, honey!" exclaimed his mom.

"Thanks, mom! Thank you very much for taking care of me," he said, hugging his mom.

"Don't just hug me, the cake's gonna fall!" His mother was merely managing her balance when he bumped her into an embrace while she was carrying a cake for his birthday.

John chuckled. "I'll carry that."

"Not when you have not said your prayer."

"Alright," he said, smiling, gripping now the other side of the cake, before closing his eyes. "Dear God, thank You for this day. I'm now fifteen! Thank You because You took care of me and my mom. I can never pray for greater because You alone is greater than any gift a mere human can have. Thank you for salvation and this Christmas is for you. Amen." He blew the cake.

John opened his eyes in delight. "I'll carry."

His mother smiled, letting go of the cake. "Happy birthday, son!"

"Thanks!" He placed the plain blue cake with his name on it and a small candle.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday. Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you. Only one will not do, born again means salvation. How many birthdays have you?" His mother sang with all her heart at the same time clapping her hands.

"Two!" John exclaimed, raising his right hand showing number two hand sign.

"Very good. Let's eat?" His mother prayed a prayer of praising God, thanking Him, the food on their table will have nourishment to them as they serve Him, and the people who prepared their meal.

"Amen," they uttered in unison.

Both mother and son took their seat at each other's opposite. "Let's dig in!" John said happily.

As they were eating, his mother mentioned about the gift he received.

"Nah, I'll open it later. It's fun to open the gift whomever sent it in Christmas so I can thank God for the gift I received."

"Okay, I'll be waiting to hear about it tomorrow."
