Sorry for the delay over the last few days, guys.

"Are those things you said real?" Claire asked quietly, her tone cautious.

"Of course they're real," Carlos shot back firmly. "No lies. That's why I strongly oppose you letting that devil join our convoy — he'll be the end of us."

Claire frowned. "Your words are harsh, but think about it. That man could've killed you easily in Raccoon City, but he didn't. In a way, he saved you. Carlos, you're letting personal emotions cloud your judgment. Calm down."

Carlos' fists tightened. "Wu Yang… I won't let you go."

Not long after, Jack and Jill officially joined Claire's convoy — and naturally, the still-dazed Alice came along too.

"Joining this group, what's your plan?" Jill asked, eyeing Jack sharply. "Protect these people? That's not really your style."

Jack smirked. "Why can't I protect them? Everything I do is by choice. I can kill, or I can protect — whichever I wish."

Jill shook her head. "You really are a devil. Not a shred of sincerity in you."

"Thanks for the compliment," Jack said with a grin.

Nearby, Jill watched a few survivors digging graves for the fallen. "So many have died already. At this rate, this convoy won't last long."

Teri walked by with her camera. "When Carlos and I joined, the group was twice this size. Six months later… half are gone. Every day, I wonder who'll die tomorrow — and who'll still be here."

Jack looked her in the eye. "Teri, as long as I'm here, we won't die."

Teri smiled faintly. "I believe you."

Jill raised an eyebrow but swallowed her comment. It was as if she didn't exist in front of these two.

"Wu Yang, how did you and Jill meet anyway?" Teri asked curiously.

Jack looked up at the sky, his face oddly devout. "Fate, maybe. After the Raccoon City incident, I searched everywhere for you."

"You looked for me?" Teri blinked in surprise.

"Yes," Jack nodded solemnly.

Teri's voice softened. "I knew you wouldn't abandon me. But why didn't you come with us back then?"

"I had my own mission. I couldn't risk bringing danger to you," Jack said, his aura intense.

Teri's eyes softened. "Wu Yang…"

"Don't speak. Just listen." Jack's tone turned gentle. "I searched for you everywhere, but the world's too big. Finding you was nearly impossible."

Teri nodded silently.

"During my search," Jack continued, "I met Jill. She was under attack by a swarm of zombies — surrounded, seconds from death. I saved her at the last moment."

Jill stared at him, speechless. This man has the face of someone who's never felt shame.

Teri turned to Jill, wide-eyed. "Wow, Jill! You were lucky to meet Jack then."

Jill forced a bitter smile. Teri… is your IQ in the negatives? Even a dog would know he's full of nonsense.

"Yeah," she said dryly. "Very lucky."

Lighting a cigarette, Jill looked away.

Jack coughed. "Anyway, after saving Jill, we traveled together looking for you. I knew I'd find you — I felt it. And now here I am."

Teri smiled warmly and threw her arms around him. "You're amazing, Wu Yang."

Jack looked rather pleased, patting her back. "It's what I do."

Jill's expression darkened. Her hand discreetly reached around and pinched Jack's waist — hard. Damn brute.

Claire appeared just then, raising an eyebrow. "Clearly, I came at the wrong time."

Teri immediately stepped back, blushing. Jill casually withdrew her hand as if nothing happened.

"Alright, dinner's ready," Claire said. As she turned to leave, she noticed Jill's cigarette. "You've got smokes?"

"You really are lucky," Jill replied, offering her a pack. "Haven't used these in a while."

"Thanks," Claire smiled and walked off, looking unusually pleased.

Teri sighed. "Canned food again. Half a year of this and I might start mooing like a cow."

But she smiled afterward. "Still, we're alive. Not zombies. And we've got food. That's something to be grateful for."

"You're lucky, but someone else has better stuff," Jill muttered, giving Jack a sidelong glance.

"Better stuff?" Teri asked, puzzled.

"Wu Yang, this would be a great time to show off your 'supplies,' wouldn't it?" Jill said mockingly.

Jack chuckled. "You're right."

A flash of blue light swept through the air. In front of Teri's astonished eyes, a grill, gas tank, and stove appeared — along with a table piled high with meat, fruit, and vegetables.

"What—how did you do that?" Teri gasped. The sight of fresh food was overwhelming; her stomach growled on instinct.

Jill rolled her eyes. "Relax. He's always pulling stunts like this. Think of him as a walking refrigerator."

Teri swallowed hard. "Incredible."

"Then allow Chef Wu to demonstrate his skills," Jack announced, firing up the stove. "You can help."

"Gladly!" Teri said excitedly.

Jack grilled meat on the rack and tossed vegetables in a pan with surprising grace — though Jill and Teri quickly took over, more out of habit than confidence.

Soon, the aroma of real food filled the air. Other survivors nearby began gathering, eyes hungry and hopeful. For people who'd lived months on canned beans, that smell was almost torture.

A timid woman approached. "Can… can I have some?" she asked, staring at the sizzling meat.

"Of course—" Teri began, but Jack interrupted with a sly smile.

"Of course you can," he said. "But what will you offer me in return?"

The woman froze, then seemed to decide on something. Another woman stepped forward quickly, shouting, "If you give me food, I'll do anything you want! In bed, anything — however you like!"

She tore at her clothes, baring her body shamelessly. "Look! My body's perfect, isn't it?"
