Chapter 48 - Indomitable

Screams and gasps filled the air as everyone in the room, except Sybil, backed away from the beast.

His golden eyes bore into Sybil as his thick, brown fur raised, while his teeth and claws extended further as he growled.

Three more wolves leapt into the house behind him, blocking the witches from escaping if they tried to.

While the witches were distracted by the beasts, Marie began to untangle the ropes that they had begun to wrap around her legs. The chaos grew more intense with the efforts she made to escape.

After removing the ropes. She was able to maneuver the covering off her face as she shifted around to free herself.

She was shocked at the sight of Isabel in her focus, towards the side of the room, frozen in fear. They locked eyes as Isabel gave Marie a look of remorse.

Marie's chest burned. She wanted to end Isabel at that very moment. She never felt that way about anyone before.

It was one thing for Sybil to hate her and hunt her down, but Isabel was her friend. Isabel pretended to help. She pretended to care. She hurt everyone Marie cared about. She violated what they all learned in the coven. Even if you left, you could never harm your sister once bonded by blood.

That was the ultimate treachery.

Marie wondered if Isabel is who caused their spell for Harold to fail. Isabel was the only one who didn't want to be there and she hated wolves.

Isabel looked away and pushed herself into a corner of the room as though she was hiding herself in the shadows, trying to become a part of the wall.

"Hello Sargon." Sybil said with a grin. The look on her face was one Marie couldn't read. Her eyes showed a burning hatred, but her mouth carried a silly smirk.

Marie refused to lay there and wait to see Sybil's next move. The wolves were in danger because of her. She had to help them somehow.

Sargon pounced at Sybil, heading straight for her throat. As he leapt, Sybil whispered a spell, forcing Sargon backward as he fell to the floor in pain.

"Nice try little dog. You and your puppies will die before you touch me." She said as she forced the other wolves down into submission.

"Who is your queen now, you little animals? Bow to me!" She commanded.

Sargon fought with all his strength to lift himself off of the floor. Sybil was too powerful. Two of the other witches stood on either side of her, strengthening her even more.

Marie stood up and rushed over to her kitchen drawer, pulling a knife out of it. She fought with the ropes, trying to cut them off.

After a few moments, she was free. She darted over to Sybil and pulled her head back by her hair, stabbing her between her neck and shoulder.

Sybil screamed in pain while one of her witches grabbed Marie, throwing her against her kitchen counter as her body collapsed to the floor.

Sybil grabbed the knife from her body, casting a healing spell on herself as she she pulled it out slowly. "You cannot kill me little girl." She said with a cackle.

As the witches concentration broke, Sargon and his wolves regained their strength. His wolves attacked the witches, while Sargon pounced on Sybil. Before he could end her, she cast another spell, forcing his body to the wall.

A shelf filled with ceramics broke, crashing on top of him. The wolves stopped in mid attack, falling back from the witches as they fought against the magic.

One of the witches lay motionless on the floor as blood poured out of her neck. A wolf was successful at the attack.

Marie suddenly began squirming on the floor, contorting in pain. Her eyes turned blood shot as she screamed in agony as one of Sybil's remaining witches cast a spell on her.

Sybil was forcing pain onto the wolves as a couple of them whimpered, unable to bear the pain much longer. Sargon kept fighting as hard as he could.

"So, here is the deal you mongrel. I can kill you right now but that would be no fun. Leave now, and your little whore lives for tonight. Continue this pitiful charade and she dies in front of your pretty golden eyes.

"Sargon! Please! You have to leave. She is too powerful." Marie said, forcing the words out of her mouth through the pain. Sargon didn't budge.

"Do you need a bit of motivation?" Sybil said forcing Marie's body to lift off the ground, her toes barley touching the floor. She positioned Marie in front of Sargon as tears poured out of Marie's eyes.

Marie screamed a chilling scream as blood rolled out of her eyes and her skin began to produce bleeding wounds on her body.

A whimper escaped Sargon as he looked at her while he backed away. He so badly wanted to shift into his human form and grab her, but he knew his human form was weaker than his wolf.

Marie's body fell to the floor as she tried to lift herself off the ground. "Please, leave before it is too late." She said, nearly breathless, while she looked at Sybil and forced her body off of the floor, incapable of standing up fully.

"I will be ok. I will find you. I promise." She whispered, looking into Sargon's eyes.

Suddenly, one of Sargon wolves fell to the ground motionless with blood pouring out of its mouth.

"What do you say puppy? Do you want more of you dogs to die?" Sybil teased.

He had no choice but to let her go. They couldn't win this. Sybil veins were flooded with Marie's power as well as her mother's power.

Marie was as weak as a human without her power. The wolves were powerless as well. There was no way out of this except to watch the woman he loved be taken by this monster.

Sybil began walking out of Marie's house with her remaining witches. Isabel followed with her eyes towards the floor as Sargon growled while she passed him by. If he could rip her to shreds, he would, but Sybil ensured that he couldn't move. She would see her final day soon enough as long as he was alive. He promised himself.

"Do not look for her. Do not send anyone to try to get her. It is no use. You will not find us, and you are too weak to kill me. Save your dignity and forget about your little witch. Go find one of your own. She won't be coming back. I will always have ears and eyes in your castle and kingdom. Remember that." Sybil said as she cast another spell, forcing the wolves to the floor once more as she left the house with Marie and her witches.

"We will meet again little dog." Her voice echoed into the wooden house.

Moments later, Sargon was able to move and shot through the door after the witches but they had already disappeared. He couldn't tell which direction they went in, nor could he pick up their scent. Marie was gone and he had no way to find her.

Gathering the remaining pack, he hurried to the castle. There was one person who may be able to help but he had to move quickly. There was no telling when Sybil would kill Marie
