Chapter 41 - Succor

The full moon lit the sky beautifully. Marie felt the energy and power flowing through her as she leaned on the balcony, absorbing the light.

She had collected the items she needed for Harold and was prepared to do all she could to help him.

"Please my Goddess, give me the strength I need to save your creation. He deserves this chance. His family needs him." Marie whispered.

As she gazed at the moon, she felt a surge of energy flow through her causing her to take a deep breath. It was as though the Goddess had heard her.

After a few more moments, Marie gathered herself and walked into her bedroom, closing the balcony door behind her. She felt calm and ready.

She thought about Sargon while she waited. She was still surprised at everything Sargon had told her. She touched the ring she wore and moved it back and forth on her finger as she smiled, thinking about him. The thought of having his child gave her little butterflies. She wondered if it was possible.

She waited for Sargon before she head over to Harold's room. Sargon needed to shift and take his run so he could focus the rest of his energy on assisting with Harold. He also needed to release some of the stress that hung heavy on him. Running in his wolf form was the best way for him to do so.

The strength Sargon received during the full moon would be needed in case Harold's wolf forced him to shift. He would be wild and uncontrollable. Marie was hoping it would not get that far but everyone was prepared in case it did.

A knock on the door alerted her that Sargon had arrived sooner than she expected. She walked to the door and opened it.

"Madam Marie, you have a visitor." The maid announced.

"A visitor? For me? Who would come to see me?" She asked.

"She said her name is Beth. There are two of them." She replied.

"Oh my goodness! They came!" Marie squealed as she ran past the maid towards the lobby.

Beth and Isabel stood in the middle of the room, looking around in awe. The castle was impressive for anyone who had never been inside of it.

Beth and Isabel remained in the familiar safety of the forest their entire lives. They rarely came to the town and never came to the castle. They had no reason to since they were witches. Witches usually kept their distance from wolves unless it was a rare situation where a wolf needed a witch's assistance.

Marie ran up to Beth and Isabel and hugged them tightly. Isabel still seemed a little distant, but Beth was her usual bubbly self.

Marie took both of their hands, closed her eyes, and quickly cast a spell to connect them telepathically before she spoke to them both.

"What are you guys doing here?" Marie asked as she held their hands and began leading them to a meeting room.

"We didn't hear back from you, and I know you said helping your friend was time-sensitive so I decided we should come on our own. I also didn't want Isabel here to change her mind." She said as she squinted her eyes at Isabel, while Isabel rolled her eyes in reply.

"I don't like wolves. They give me the creeps." Isabel said as she rubbed her arms up and down her sides to ease her shiver.

"Said the witch who guards her home with an anaconda." Beth teased.

"These wolves are different, Isabel. They are kind and care about others. They are not what we were taught wolves are." Marie explained.

"You are just saying that because you are dating one of them," Isabel said, bluntly.

"Well, he has shown me a lot. His family has shown me a lot as well. They have been nothing but good to me." She said.

"Did it ever occur to you that they are being kind because they need you? What will happen when you are no longer needed?" Isabel asked.

Marie looked at Isabel and smiled.

"Well, it is sometimes good to be needed. The more you help others, the more good things you attract." Marie said.

Isabel forced her lip in a thin line and didn't respond. She knew Marie was right. It was too late to turn back now even if she wanted to anyway, so she continued into the meeting room as Marie closed the door behind them.

"I have had to cast spells to hide the things I am doing. Sybil could hear all I was doing." Marie explained.

"Oh my goodness. She was hearing everything?" Beth asked, wide-eyed as Marie's face became flushed.

"Yes. Everything." Marie revealed.

"That is crazy!" Beth said.

"I know. I did a reveal spell and she nearly killed me. That is how I found out what she wanted."

"Well, what is it that she wants, Marie?" Isabel asked.

Marie took a moment to answer as she fiddled with her fingers, then brushed her hair behind her ear.

"She wants me, and she wants to get rid of the werewolves."

"Well, we know she hates wolves, but what does she want from you?" Isabel asked as Beth listen intently.

"She wants my power. In order to get my power, she needs to take my blood. She wants me dead to be sure she gets it all."

"Oh, my goodness!" Beth said out loud as Isabel covered her mouth in shock.

"So, you really have no choice but to face her and try to end this, or she will never stop coming for you," Isabel said.

"Now you understand why all of this is so important to me. In addition to helping a family, my life is at risk. Sybil killed my mother and took her power. Now she wants to do the same to me."

"That is terrifying and heartbreaking all at the same time," Beth said as she held back tears.

"You know, my grandma was upset with me when I didn't help you when you both visited me. She said that witches were always supposed to stick together even though the coven was separated. We need to protect each other." Isabel said.

"I agree with grandma. She is a wise lady." Marie said as the three of them smiled.

"Ok, so you will have to show us how to do this spell because your mother is who designed it." She never taught us. I don't think she wanted us to know she was helping wolves." Beth said.

"Yes, I will show you exactly what you need to do. The power of three will be much stronger than me by myself. It worked the first time, but I think Sybil may have cast a stronger spell since the full moon was coming because what I have done, seems to be reversing." Marie said.

"Yes, she would definitely do something like that," Isabel said.

Marie took her time to go over what she had planned to do for Harold and what Beth and Isabel's roles would be throughout the process. They had never done anything like this before, so they listened keenly.

"I hope I am not interrupting you ladies," Sargon said as he walked into the meeting room.

Beth and Isabel looked at Sargon as though they had done something wrong.

"No, Alpha Sargon. We were just finishing up here before we go upstairs. My friends have decided to assist with this process." Marie said as she tried to hold back a blush.

Sargon looked like he had just showered, and Marie's core tightened at the sight of him. If Beth and Isabel were not in the room, she would have already had her way with him. Sargon seemed like he could feel what Marie was feeling as he looked at her with a smirk.

"Well, let me thank you both for coming to assist. We truly appreciate your efforts. You will be well taken care of when this is all over." Sargon said as Beth and Isabel looked at each other astonished at his words.

"Thank you, Alpha Sargon." They said in unison.

"Is there anything else you ladies need before we begin the process?" He asked.

"There is nothing. I believe we have covered everything and more." Marie said as she smiled at Beth and Isabel.

"Very well, let us go."
