Chapter 1 - Fragile

He had been a good kid growing up. Life had no traumatic events besides abandonment and scrutiny. Almost a straight A student, the one thing he lacked growing up was real social skills. A self declared outcast, most people wanted to be his friend. However, he did not want to be theirs.

He tried to be kind to these souls that stuck to him like glue, but the more they stuck, the more agitated he would get. There were only a select few who he tried to conversate with for the rest of them he saw no further potential towards. Though he was always kind, those who would try to be his friend would get pushed away.

Those who he kept, he saw value in. At the time, he didn't quite realize how much humans need a human connection, for without it, our minds go feral even in a select group.

There was only one good relationship he had during high school. He thought he had found love. It lasted until he was out of high school. Those high school relationships rarely last.

You realize that while growing up and in school, you're kind of in a small aquarium. You see most of the same faces day to day, that you decide to pick the fish you seem to click with and you stick with it.

However once you cross that graduating line and your aquarium gets dumped into the ocean, that more fish come riding to find out who you are.

That's exactly what happened... for his love. He decided to try and make something out of himself and try to join the military. As soon as his diploma was in his hands he was shipped and trained to be a killing machine.

While he was in the training portion of it, he had no idea what was happening back in the home world. His life that he was beginning to establish was starting to get ripped apart. The fragile strings that trust is based on began to get more fragile. Until, they snapped.

On the second wave of training is when he found out. They were able to have their phones during the second wave, and it was nice to rekindle with his parents and his love, even if through a screen. A week into having his phone back is when he got the picture.

At first it was disbelief. Total and utter heart shatter. Something he had never felt before. He spent the next eight months trying to stitch the strings back together, but once one was fixed, the next would snap.

Finally he returned home, graduated as a soldier and part of the 1%. Something in his life was accomplished and he did it without needing the support of anyone but himself and his battle buddies. Life was okay for the time being. He and his love worked things out, but those strings weren't fully fixed.

As the next year progressed, the straight mind of a soldier began to spiral into a fester of alcohol and drugs. Because of alcohol, it lead to drugs, and because of drugs, the one thing he worked hard towards was gone.

It wasn't his love, it was the career he was establistoward He didn't care about his civilian career, he lost the one thing he had actually accomplished. With that, he began to spiral even further. His love had gotten with someone else once again. He had snapped. Those fragile strings all popped at once.

In spite, he cut off any ties to his love. She became the methed up whore his mind played her out to be. After that he held nothing in and made decisions he wasn't ready to hold the consequences towards.

Twenty. That's the count he had racked up in three months. Then he met his Life. She was beautiful when it all happened. She was crazy for him and he was for her. Life was coming together for him. But just as fragile Love is, Life is even more so. He began to find that out.
