"I even had a mistress… my first love. I told myself it was fine because I loved her first. But that was just an excuse. I married an innocent girl and treated her like she was guilty. What kind of man does that?"
The doctor's voice was steady. "A man who lost his way. But also a man who can see his mistakes now."
Yu Lin shook his head. "It's too late. I can't go back. I can't undo it."
"You cannot change the past," the doctor said. "But you can still choose how to spend the time you have now."
Yu Lin laughed softly, but there was no joy in it.
"Time? I'm old. I spend my days here, alone. No wife. No children to visit me. My first love… she's gone. And the woman I married… I destroyed whatever feelings she had for me. Even my own heart feels like an empty box."
The doctor leaned forward slightly. "Why did you do it, Yu Lin? Was it really love? Or something else?"
Yu Lin's eyes darkened.
