After what couldn't have been more than a millisecond, but felt like forever, Avnior opened his eyes.
He was looking up at a dark, star-filled sky. Several planets filled his view as many different looking space ships took off towards them.
Quickly, he came to his senses and stood up off the ground.
He was standing in the middle of a large terrace that stood high above a large, expansive city. Several people milled around talking to each other. A few shouted as they spotted friends appearing in odd positions on the ground.
Having gone through a similar experience to him, Avnior could easily understand how disoriented they felt.
He didn't have anyone that would be waiting for him. After growing up scrapping around for food, he had never found anyone that wanted to stick around him for long.
That was why he had been so excited when he had first learned about the ARCADE, a brand new concept that had never been done before and seemed to come out of nowhere.
The ARCADE was not only revolutionary in the technology that it had, it was also economy-shattering as it only cost a measly quarter to get in. This is what roped so many people in.
At first, he wasn't that interested in it, expecting the fantastical fantasy-land to cost much more than he could ever dream of having in his life. But when the ARCADE shook the world, announcing that it would only cost a quarter, he had quickly tried to learn everything he could about this new world, what it held, and what inspired this glorious piece of work.
Now that Avnior stood at the beginning of this new world, he didn't ever want to look back to what his life had been before. Here, under a new name he had created for this purpose, he would leave that life behind and make a new name for himself. He would become a new, different person.
The interesting thing about this world is that not much was known about it. Since, once making your way to it, there was no way back, no one had ever returned to tell people about what it was like. However a few things were known.
The ARCADE was set up similarly to a game, with all of its attributes and stat points. Though, no one was quite sure how it would work being tied to the laws of the universe.
So, expecting everything and nothing at the same time, Avnior started his new journey inside of the ARCADE.
