Ardyn was about to say something to divert her suspicions when Leon suddenly spoke up instead.
"I was—" Leon stopped short. "I mean… Evan, Elyana, and I… we've been friends since we were kids."
"Really? Maybe Ely mentioned you before. I don't know why your name sounds familiar…" Kaya muttered.
"Sorry to push this onto you, but is it possible to bring them along?" Ardyn asked. "The three of us really need to get off this island as soon as possible."
Kaya studied him for a moment. "Ely did tell me it was urgent and not to ask questions. Well, it's fine, since my ship is big enough for five. Ely barely comes to visit anymore, so she probably doesn't know that I upgraded this baby over the years," she said proudly, tapping the side of the boat with her palm.
Ardyn heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank you," he said sincerely. At least they wouldn't need to be separated.
He locked eyes with Luke, who sent him a silent message through his gaze.
