Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

A couple days after Lore defeated the lead Daemon. He had stumbled his way back to the village outskirting the forest. Falling to the floor exhausted, villagers had to carry Lore to the Doctors hut, where they treated Lore the best they could. Four days. and three nights, Lore slept and recovered, and all the magic he used slowly reaccumulated within him.

Lore groaned as his eyes fluttered open, his body sore and aching all over. Sitting up, he found the extent of his injuries. The room span as he sat there, shortly later he was fine, but his stomach let out a huge growl. Lore heard his room door creak open, and a nurse gowned woman walked in to check on the man.

"Good morning sir, welcome back to the world of the living, we though we had lost you".

Lore inquired about his time spent unconscious, and was filled in, on the whole story.

"Alright, I'd like a letter sent Knight General Valorum's estate. I'll decide how to proceed once I hear back from him, giving me time to heal."

Lore detailed his journey, battles, and eventual extermination of the lead Daemon. He then continued on in his missive, asking Lord Valorum what should be done with the dregs of monsters.

Once written, he sent a courier bird.

A week passes and Lore has completely recovered, and a regiment of soldiers marched into the village; facilitating the repairs of the village and also joining Lore on scouting trips through the forest. A reward was sent by Valorum, but to Lore's dismay, it was even heavier weighted clothing. "Since you were able to slay a Daemon I feel you should step up your training. Wear this all the time. Stay safe -Valorum'. Short and simple, conveying to Lore that Valorum had his plans in motion.

The next few weeks were full of search missions fo clean up the final stragglers of the Daemon encampment.

The Capital city of Internia. We see a vast city, ports on one side, the rest of the city filled to the brim with buildings.

Inside the capitals castle, we see a group of uniformed men sitting around a guildes table, and at the end of the table sat the High King himself Kastor Internia, first of his name. They speak hurriedly, and frankly with each other.

"With all due respect, we need to demonstrate the the Daemons that we are not a country to be trifled with" spoke a hefty mustached man sitting on the other end of the table.

"Unless we have overwhelming numbers, our regular troops can't hold up to the enhanced strength of the Daemons soldiers." Another noble spoke up. A younger military man, appointed a noble due to his ability to command, but he himself had great fighting potential.

"Enough! I want word sent to 'Him'" So spoke the High King of Internia, and the lowered heads of the nobles shifted, as they all exclaimed "My Liege, do you truly think we need 'Him'? I feel we could handle this farce without his aid". Others spoke about how unpredictable, and untrustworthy. Some muttered of his unnoble birth.

"Silence! I will hear nothing of this. I want to win this war with as few casualties as possible. Now summon Him!." The King spoke passionately, and firmly. All present lowered their gazes. They all acknowledged their missions and dismissed themselves, bowing to the King as they made their leave.

Back in the City of Towers, Lore is training back in the training hall of Valorum manor. Streams of sweat poured off his body as he sparred with Valorum. His attacks controlled but ferocious, and Valorum was actually putting effort into their training match. Valorum smiled as he thought to himself of how he has a fantastic new training partner, and he couldn't help but admire how talented this kid ended up being. Valorum raised his hand after another exchange of their swords, and put his weapon away. Lore sheathed his two swords, and grabbed a towel. "What will I be working on next, Sir? Do you think I'll be engaging any more Daemons? It has been four months since then, and I feel I'm even stronger than that day." Lore spoke with a smile on his face.

"HAHAHAHA! Kid, you have gotten much better, but you barely got our of that last one. You'd need a few more years of training to even fight Knight Lord level Daemon." Valorum spoke boisterousjy as Lore hung his head and then laughed, "Yeah well, I still kicked that Daemons asa!" Lore hollered excitedly as his voice echoed into the air.
