Instead, Khan was on the other side, stuck in a political pickle. Letting off the Orlats easily would reflect poorly on the allied front, emboldening some of its species to resort to similar bullying.
However, Khan couldn't force the Orlats to work for him, either. They wouldn't do their job under duress, making a suitable and favorable agreement unavoidable.
All things considered, the Orlats had the upper hand there. In the grand scheme of things, the allied front was their best chance at surviving the Scarlet Eyes' predicament.
