RING. RING. RING.
The phone rang for nearly ten seconds before the call connected.
"Hello, who is this?"
Han Wang's voice on the other end was hard and abrasive, like a stone.
Xu Ke heard the voice and laughed. "Guess who."
"Doesn't my voice sound especially dear to you?"
As soon as he spoke, a long, deathly silence fell over the other end of the line.
Even through the silence, Xu Ke could imagine the spectacular expression on the other man's face.
"Why the silence? Have you landed yet? I miss you guys."
Xu Ke relaxed completely, sprawling on the sofa as he began to spout utter nonsense.
"You... Xu Ke, how did you get my number?!" Han Wang demanded through gritted teeth, his voice holding a barely perceptible trace of panic.
"You're asking me? Didn't you leave it yourself?" Xu Ke chuckled.
"How could you possibly have it?" Han Wang repeated.
The sudden shock of Xu Ke's call made him momentarily forget that he had left his number in the car that morning.
