Chapter 257 - The Plague

Spring came and went. In the heat of summer, there came news of the Yellow River flooding. This was not out of the ordinary. However, there had been more rain than usual this year, and so the water levels were much higher and the flooding worse. During morning court, the ministers reported to the Emperor of entire villages under water, thousands of people displaced, and damages and death tolls rising every day. Crop fields in the area were decimated, while fields to the south experienced unprecedented heat and drought. It was bound to be a difficult year, the ministers warned grimly. The price of grains will rise. And if drought and flood relief are not carried out well, there will be a great famine.
