Suddenly, a soft voice stopped them.
"What are you doing here? Where's my brother?"
The two, who had been at each other's throats just moments ago, instantly froze like mice encountering a cat. When they saw Ye Qi, they didn't know what to do with their hands and feet.
"Q-Qiqi."
"Mm." Ye Qi responded, her clear eyes scanning them, and she asked again, "You're all loitering at the door. Where's my brother? Why isn't he with you?"
Her features were delicate and pretty, her voice pleasant to the ear. Even though her complexion wasn't great, she was still considered one of the most beautiful young women in the village. Having grown up with her, the village boys all secretly liked her. Though some said Ye Qi would leave the village to find work and probably marry someone from the city, no one wanted to accept that. Each of them quietly improved themselves, saved money, hoping to visit her family and take a chance when she grew a little older.
