Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Sealing

It been a year.

Ash was now a 1 year old and was already able to say some words. He had mastered the language his parents used by just observing. From what Ash could figure out about his parents was...absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. His parents don't talk about it and if he tries to ask in a gibberish way, they would just change the topic.

But from this 1 year, he could tell something was wrong. They were always on the move. Always travelling, or in another word, they are always trying to escape someone or worse, something. Whenever they would run into beasts, Curtis would deal with them and they would be easily defeated making Ash think they were only weak beasts.

One day when Curtis was lighting up a campfire, Rosaline suddenly said, "Dear, Let's settle down in one of the human cities."

Curtis froze.

He turned and faced Rosaline, his face concerned.

"That's a bad idea and you know it"

Rosaline looked down at tiny Ash sleeping peacefully on her lap. "When it was just us two, travelling for all eternity is no problem. Exploring dangerous places and fighting our enemies is no problem." She paused.

"Killing without hesitation is no problem"

She weaved her hand through Ash's hair. gently. " But now it's not just the two of us. We can't travel for all eternity and not give him a place he could call home. We can't explore dangerous places and fight our enemies without the peace of mind that he would be safe. We can't put him in danger."

Her eyes got teary as she looked Curtis straight in the eyes. "And we can never let him enter our world filled with blood."

Curtis' expression softened but his voice was filled with disagreement. "We can't. She will find us at some point."

"She will find us anyways!" Rosaline voiced out in anger. "Everything is chaotic right now meaning she'll take more time. 9 years is the maximum time she would need to find us in the human shelter if we're careful. 9 years will be enough to give our son a taste of a normal life." She looked at Curtis. Her eyes almost begging.

Curtis' heart tightened painfully. He looked at his child on his beloved's lap and looked at his beloved's begging eyes.

He sighed. "Alright..."

Rosaline's face lighted up. "On one condition." Curtis raised a finger in front of Rosaline. "I will train him."

Rosaline smiled. "Deal."

.................

When Ash woke up, he was confused by his surroundings. It seems like he was in a house. A small basic house. Ash scratched his head. ' I only slept for a bit. I was surrounded by trees but now I seem to be in a simple wood house.' Ash looked around confused.

It was empty. There were no furnitures or anything. "Mwammy?" Ash called out.

Rosalines head popped from the window. "Your awake baby."

She entered the house. " You must be very hungry right?" She carried Ash.

Ash's stomach grumbled as soon as she asked. 'How did she know I was hungry? Is this what they call mother's instinct?' Ash's mind couldn't help but recall when he was in the god realm. Everyone was technically considered siblings since we were all created by Mother, but even then.....

A painful memory flashed in his mind. In it was a little boy cuddling his knees on top of the tree.He would go to that tree everyday. He was out-casted by the others without reason and mocked. So everyday, he would sit up the great big tree's branch and watch the sun go up to when it would go down. He really liked it. It made him forget about all his problems. He would talk with the creatures in the god realm. The creatures liked him as well for he was kind-hearted and could understand them. He felt at home in the forest near the great big tree. However, one day, early in the morning when the sky would still be dark, it was abnormally bright in the forest. He ran towards the abnomal brightness and could smell smoke. His heart beating, hoping it was all just his imagination but sadly, when he arrived, the great big tree was beautifully lit in flames.

Standing in front of him was Mira, the goddess of flames, a girl with hair and eyes the color of flames. With a mocking smile she said, "You mad? What cha gonna do about it, failure?" and walked away, whistling happily.

The boy couldn't help clentch his fists and grit his teeth in anger. However, he was powerless because he was a BLANK. So he cried for as long as he could by the stump of the tree and swore to himself he will make Mira, The goddess of flames, pay!

Ash shook his head, stopping himself from remembering any further. He drank his fill of milk and like usual, fell right back to sleep.

Rosaline had a worried look as she saw Ash fall asleep again. Curtis finally arrived with some food. "Let's seal his powers" Rosaline said suddenly. Curtis paused. "Let's do it."

They placed Ash on the floor and sat side by side to him. They held their arms out and chanted together.

"Hrasha uvvak nosimos el dowiq prevula nov stula ya mosnor ut jewanahumvol le fala!"

Rosaline's eyes turned gold and Curtis' eyes turned blood red as they chanted the words 10 times. Beads of sweat rolled down their faces. After 5 minutes, they were panting heavily.

Curtis' shock couldn't be hidden as he stared at his son. He couldn't help but laugh loudly as he smiled and said, "What kind of monster have we created!"

"How long will this seal last?" Rosaline said panting. Curtis thought. " I was expecting for the seal to last 20 years but from what I can tell, it can only hold him for about 10 years."

Rosaline smiled as she tidied her sweaty silver hair. " That's enough. When he turns 10, we'll tell him everything."

She picked up Ash who was sleeping soundly throughout the whole thing.

"But for now, let's let him be normal."
