"Do you think this is a TV drama? I can assure you there's absolutely nothing going on; the only man who's been close to you has been me."
Tessa Caldwell frowned: "You're making guarantees? We've known each other for how long?!"
Faye chuckled: "You're overthinking it. Look where your mind has gone, clearly burdened by stress. You'll make yourself sick if you keep this up."
Tessa was a bit doubtful: "Really?"
"Of course!"
"But..."
"No buts..." Faye interrupted her, his tone leaving no room for argument: "If there's truly an illness, then let's treat it. Medicine is advanced nowadays, and everything can be cured. You have to trust yourself and trust me too."
Tessa sobbed: "Do you really think it can be cured?"
Tears welled up again, making her eyes red. It felt like a tragedy unfolding.
Faye nodded: "Absolutely."
Tessa fixed her gaze on him. He remained calm and composed, and she deeply searched his eyes, hoping to find some other emotion, but there was none.
