Chapter 4 - Everything To Hide

Michael tried to stay away from Lukas as much as possible... after all, he was the only person that could make him feel fear. Sometimes though, Lukas would be participating in missions that only Michael was assigned for... this was frustrating for all of The Protectors as the whole reason that certain people are assigned to certain missions is so that people don't get confused. Lukas started acting a bit stranger than normal as well... for instance when he is told to go and fight off a Destroyer, sometimes it will take fifteen minutes longer than usual just to reach The Destroyer in question... and sometimes when he came back, people say that they saw his eyes glowing a dark red colour before returning to their normal colour. Dream also said that he couldn't track Lukas' positive emotions despite him seeming to be happy all the time... then one day... Lukas just disappeared. He went out on a mission one day and didn't return when he was originally intended to.

Everyone was starting to get worried... they knew that Lukas was completely capable of defending himself if he was in danger... but The Destroyers were beginning to appear more often than usual and The Protectors needed Lukas' help. Lukas did return one day though...although he was very clearly wounded and he didn't bring any better news. He told everyone that there was something destroying universes that hasn't been seen before and Lukas could not fend it off by himself... of course, everyone wanted to see this being before it caused any more chaos and so Lukas directed everyone towards it. "Where exactly are we going?" Dream asked as they had been travelling for a while. "The edge of The Multiverse... that's where I last saw it." Lukas replied. "The edge of The Multiverse? How far did you travel?" Michael questioned Lukas as even some of the strongest Protectors are at risk at even a few miles away from The Sanctuary. "I was just exploring and learning about this place, I thought that since I'm not aging, I'm going to be here for the rest of eternity... I might as well try and learn about The Multiverse as much as I possibly can." Lukas answered. "But what if-" Michael was saying before he was cut off. "We shouldn't talk too much... we're nearly there." Lukas explained.

"How will you know when it's nearby?" Delta asked. "You can't miss it if it's in your field of vision... it's gigantic and I think it is heavily armoured as well... now, can we keep quiet?" Lukas replied. Once they arrived at their destination, they saw everything... all the destruction that was caused... and off in the distance... they could see it causing more chaos. "Let's go...it's caused so much havoc already." Michael spoke confidently. They all approached the being and... they could not believe what they were seeing. It was a machine that was painted white with a purple stream of energy coming out of the back of its head and in the centre of it, there was a strange material that no one recognised and it seemed to be keeping the core of the machine safe. Almost immediately, it started attacking. "You said you tried to fight this thing Lukas... are there any weaknesses that you've found?" Michael asked whilst dodging the energy blasts the machine was sending out. "I don't know anything about this thing... other than the fact that those attacks hurt a lot." Lukas explained.

Delta took the first chance he got to attack the machine and he punched it from behind... nothing happened. Everyone tried attacking it including Michael and Lukas... none of them could even scratch it...and before long... everyone was unable to battle due to taking too much damage. The Machine turned back to the universe it was attacking before The Protectors interfered... Lukas fired another blast towards it though... again not even a scratch... it seemed to have decided that it had had enough however and it turned around and started charging an attack again. Despite the fact that Lukas had taken heavy damage, he seemed to be fine... but when he opened his eyes, Michael saw that his eyes were glowing red again. Lukas held up the orb that he kept with him and it released an alarming amount of energy... at first, the machine looked like it was unaffected by the energy... but it soon became obvious that it had deactivated.

When Lukas' eyes stopped glowing, he looked around like he was confused and healed everyone when he realised that his companions had been injured. "We... should probably take this thing back to base so we can analyse it and see where it came from." Lukas said quickly. "Lukas... what just happened?" Ink asked as he was shocked by the events that just took place. "D-don't worry about it! I'm sure it was nothing... I mean... you know I'm powerful right? That's why you wanted me t-to join The Protectors... hehehe. I think I'll be going now." Lukas replied nervously before flying behind the machine and pushing it towards the direction of The Sanctuary. Everyone else just looked at each other with confusion before helping Lukas get the machine back to The Sanctuary.

"Why did you do that? Don't you have the same intentions as that thing did? Sure... you did save our lives... but... oh my god I feel so weird... is that what happens every time you step in? Huh? Why would I feel sorry for you? You've done nothing but cause death and destruction wherever you go... why would I feel empathy for you? No... don't you dare do anything here again... or this eye is going to be destroyed and you will never be free."
