Lightning crackled through the air as Kael stood at the front of the formation, sword raised and eyes burning with focus. The cavern rumbled again, deeper and louder than before. From the far shadows, a massive creature emerged — twice the size of the previous beasts, its scales glistening like polished obsidian, veins of light pulsing through its chest.
Lea instinctively stepped back, her hand tightening around Hugo's arm. "What is that thing?"
Hugo's gaze hardened. "A lightning warden… I've only seen descriptions in ancient bestiaries."
The creature's roar split the air, followed by a wave of electric energy that lit up the entire cave. The team barely had time to raise their shields before the blast struck. Sparks danced across the ground, searing the earth where it touched.
Kael didn't wait. He charged forward, sword flashing as he sliced through the first burst of lightning. His blade absorbed part of the current, glowing faintly with blue-white energy.
