Chapter 12 - Chapter 10

I looked around, still on all fours. I was a freaking wolf. I took note of my fur color. It was a crimson red and brown color, almost like my hair color. It was cool, I looked up to see Aunt Marley peering down at me. Her smile widening at me.

She gestured for me to explore the wolves. My wolf was excited, over enthusiastic if you will. I looked at her, and then at the woods. I could feel my paws practically running already. I started to pace around the woods, looking back at Aunt Marley. She only motioned for me to go on. Once she did, I turned my head around. I breathed in the fresh air through my snout. My snout!

I could feel the wind gliding along my fur. My fur! I darted further into the woods, allowing my wolf to take full control. We were fast, I could barely keep count of the trees we passed. We pounced on different logs. It was so freeing. I could breathe. I didn't think about anything. My mind was only focused on the woods.

It felt like hours had passed. I wondered if time was affected here. The sun was going down. I was hoping it was the sun. I could feel everything, it was like I had been asleep my whole life. When I transformed into a wolf, it was like I had finally been awoken.

I didn't have that feeling of being a witch. No. This, this was different. I was relieved of some sort of burden. I felt so many things you wouldn't dare to feel. I could feel the grass underneath my paws.

Slight moisture texture to it. I could pick out the different animals, my senses were all around. I could hear from far away. It was the most thrilling, and terrifying experience wrapped into one whole moment. I could feel my whole being. It was so exhilarating. I tried talking to my wolf.

"Hi." I said to her,

"Hey," she replied back to me.

Oh. My. Gosh. My wolf just talked to me.

"I am sorry I am just now meeting you. I didn't know you existed."

"It's okay. It is nice to finally be free though."

"Listen, I need to talk to you about something."

"If it's about Oreo, I am cool with her. I won't hurt her, I promise."

"No. But I was going to ask you that eventually."

"Okay then what is it Cassie?"

"You know my name?"

"Of course I know your name."

"Oh, well I feel bad I don't know yours."

"Bexley. My name is Bexley."

"Well Bexley, is it going to hurt becoming a wolf everytime?"

"I am afraid so, but you'll eventually get used to it, and it'll become bearable."

"How do you know that?"

"Were all wolf spirits, we passed on to another human after dying ourselves."

"That's creepy but cool."

I could hear Bexley mentally laugh at me.

"I guess so. Just know that you can always talk to me."

"Even when I am in my human form?"

"Even in your human form Cassie."

"Is it weird for us to be friends?"

"Not at all, it would help if we got along wouldn't it?"

"Yeah, you're right. Well Bexley we should be getting back soon. I do have class, and I need to get better at this wolf thing too."

"Fine. I just want to do one more lap around, okay?"

"Okay."

Bexley did just that, running around one more time. It was kind of weird talking to her. Like a tingle spot in my mind. I could see what she was doing, feel everything too, but she was in control. After a while we finally made it back to where Aunt Marley was. I had to sniff her out.

"How was it?" She asked me.

I shook my head at her, well Bexley did for me. "Do you know how to change back?" Aunt Marley asked us.

"Do you know how to change back?" I asked telepathically to Bexley.

"Just think about wanting to be a human again." Bex replied back to me.

I did just that, I thought about being human again. I thought about going to class. Learning about all the new stuff I just discovered. I thought about my dad, and I thought about how Oreo needed her witch. I thought about my Aunt Marley. With just that, I was human again, and fully clothed thankfully.

I don't think I could've handled being naked. That thought shook me. I could feel Bexley at the back of my mind now. She was there with me, all the time. It was kind of cool, but kind of scary. Now, she would know every single thought that I had. I wouldn't be able to keep a thing from her.

I made my way in front of Aunt Marley's shop. She had walked me back there. "I guess you should go?"

"Yeah I got classes, and I need to be able to tell dad about this."

"Well good luck dear."

"Hey Aunt Marley?"

"Yes dear?"

"Thanks. For today."

She smiled at me, "Anytime dear."

With that, I waved my hand, muttered my spell., and the portal appeared. The white glittery sparks flew out towards me. Just on the other side I could see the Academy. I went through, calling Oreo to meet me there. I knew she would be there as soon as I stepped through the portal.

There was Oreo, just on the other side as I came through. The gut wrenching feeling from the portal getting to me. It really didn't get easier going through it. I didn't want to keep using the portal. I was going to ask if there was another way, or maybe even figure out my own way. I walked up to the main building. Oreo followed me as I went.

I saw Mrs. Blabsoki in all her glory, all she did was point me to Mr. Rogers, the counselor's office. I walked there. He spun his chair around towards me. "I have been expecting you."

"Yeah, why?"

Mr. Rogers sat up, smiling at me, his wings spreading. Right, he was a fairy, I forgot for a moment. "You're a wolf now, we need to add a few things to your schedule."

"Oh great." I groaned, leaning against the chair across from his desk.

"Get in the spirit Miss Brooks, it's not like we get crossbreds everyday."

Crossbreds. The prophecy hit me again. "What do you mean, I thought it was common here?"

Mr. Rogers looked shocked, "Rarely, not many of the supernatural species like to crossbreed with each other. They usually keep to themselves, and their groups. It's highly unlikely, dear."

"Rory is a crossbred though?" I asked, hesitating.

"Yes, and have you met any more than just him?"

"Well, no." She said, muttering to herself.

"Let's talk about your schedule." He said, clapping his hands, and stretching them across the computer. He pulled up my schedule.

"Well, it looks like you will be keeping your classes, the only one we will be adding is SSS, and of course the training class which will be official now to your schedule." Mr. Rogers said with a smile.

"What is SSS?" Cassie asked, furrowing her brows.

"Speed, Strength (agility and durability), and Senses (which includes night vision)."

"Are werewolves only in this class?"

"No Miss Brooks, there are others."

"Cool. When will I take this one?"

"It'll be your last class for the day, it looks like Mr. Hayes is in this class. He can show you to it." Mr. Rogers smiled again at me, handing me my new copied schedule.

I walked out of his office, I came head to head with the Headmistress Aofnx. I quickly maneuvered my way around her heading to my first class. Mr. Roger's had officially added the training class to my schedule. When I looked down, it had Training: Fighting, hunting, and self-control.

It was just what I needed I guess. I headed there first. Watching the training session already happening. I watched as a group of wolves separated themselves. I recognized Ellie in the group, she waved me over. I went over there to see them.

"What's up Wolfie?"

"Nothing much, I did get to change into my wolf form though."

"That's great!" Ellie said, bumping me with her shoulder.

"I know, what's going on here?"

"We are teaching Max how to hunt properly in his wolf form."

I then noticed that Max was there. The guys were on their legs showing him.

"Do you mind if I join?"

"Go for it, you might be better at it then him."

I only grinned at Ellie. I made my way over, just a little ways from Max. I got on all my fours again. I wondered if I needed to say the spell again. You would think so, but I couldn't remember what Aunt Marley had said to me.

"Hush, just think about me."

Bexley.

"I forgot I could talk to you."

"I know. It's been so quiet."

I looked over to see Damian standing beside Oreo. He wasn't watching the other training session, his eyes were focused on me. Flutter.

"Hey chick, I would like to transform. You can make googly eyes later."

I rolled my eyes. "Alright, fine."

I thought about Bexley, how much she wanted to transform. I took her feelings in. The excitement at being able to run. The amazement of seeing the world through different eyes. The feeling we get when the wind is gliding along our fur. I closed my eyes, breathing in and slowly. When I opened them, Bexley was in charge.

Ellie whistled at me, "Look at you go Wolfie." I barked at her, well, Bexley barked at her.

I watched as Mike, the Alpha, talked to me and Max. Max was still in human form. He was having trouble transforming. Eventually, he just got over to the side. That made Mike come stand in front of me.

"Alright Cassie, just let your wolf take full control. Don't hesitate, she will know what to do, you let her do just that."

We nodded our heads in understanding. "I want you to go into the woods. Go hunt, work on letting her be in complete control. I don't care what you bring back, just bring back something to me." We nodded our heads once more.

Mike then pointed towards the distant forest, and we took off running towards it. My speed is faster than lightning, faster than the air you breathe. Faster than the sound that you hear. I could feel my blood pumping in my ears. Oreo joined us, why join a pack when I could have my own?

Bexley found a squirrel, and brought it back to Mike. We then transformed back, I was in my human form. The rest of the classes were pretty much normal, except for a few. Now, my healing class included regeneration (where wolves heal themselves). My magic history included the jewelry used by wolves, and what the full moon does.

The SSS class wasn't too bad. All we did was get in our wolf forms, it was training for our wolves. How fast we could go. What we could lift. They tested us by putting blind folds over our eyes, to trick us into thinking it was night time. It became one of my favorite classes, because I got to transform. Bexley enjoyed it because she got to be in full control.

I walked with Damian out of my now last class of the day. "Is it weird me being in there?" I asked him gazing up.

"No, we have other classes together."

"I know, but now I am part wolf too. How are you handling that?"

Damian shrugged, "You're still you right?" He said, bumping my shoulder with a smile. Our hands touched for a moment.

Electricity I felt jolted through my body. Flutter. I coughed, "I mean yeah." Scratching my head, I was nervous.

"Then we were good. I don't want a douche of a friend." He said, grinning.

"Hey, not all wolves are douches." I said, now bumping into him smiling.

"Really, explain Mike and Max." He said, brows coming together, pausing in front of me. I could feel Oreo next to me. I could feel her right up against me.

I shrugged my shoulders, "You got a fair point there, but that doesn't mean we're all bad you know."

He raised one eyebrow at me, "You've been a wolf for one day, don't start chewing before you take a bite."

We were now in front of the main school building. "Well I guess this is our stop." I said, glancing up at him.

"Yours. There is no need for me to go to the human school anymore."

I frowned, "Why?"

"I was sent there to find you. I found you, proved you a witch, and now you're a wolf. There is no sense in me going there." Damian shrugged his shoulders.

Cassie stopped, she thought about what Jack had said to her before, he was sent there to kill her. She looked at Damian now. "Who sent you there?"

Damian stared at her, for too long, "I don't know. I just know I needed to find you."

She stared at him, he was hiding something. "Goodnight my dear Cassie, I'll see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow." Cassie replied back hesitantly, she opened the portal going through.

When Cassie got home, her dad was already there. She opened the door, and there was Jessie waiting in the kitchen. Great. "Dad, I am home."

He came in smiling at me, "How was everything? I forgot to ask about you going to the reservation the other day."

I glanced at Jessie, "It was good, I think it would've been better if you had gone with me. Learn from you instead of these people I don't know." I shrugged my shoulders.

"You wanted me to teach you?" Disbelief in my dad's voice.

"Yeah, you're my dad, I want to share this with you. I would've wanted to share it with mom too if she was here."

My dad glanced down, a dark cast over his face, "I know honey."

"I met my wolf."

"You did?"

"Yeah, her name is Bexley."

"Oh honey that's great, how did the transformation go?"

"I absolutely hate it, but it is getting slightly better. I have only transformed a few times."

"We don't have much going on tonight, do you want to go to the reservation?" My dad asked me, hope in his voice.

I looked over at Jessie, wondering what she was doing back here.. "Sure," I replied back. I started to head to the front door when dad stopped me.

"What are you doing?"

"I need to go create a portal?" I asked hesitantly.

Dad only laughed at me, "You can create one here you know Cas?"

I looked at him in disbelief, "No, I didn't know. That would've been nice to be informed of that." I glared at Jessie, she only shrugged her shoulders. She was quiet as a mouse, I hated it, she was up to something.

I opened the portal, muttering my little spell, and we went through, The Falls of Blue just on the other side. Oreos coming along with us. It was weird seeing my dad here with me. I had kept so much from him the past weeks, seeing him here with me just was awkward.

When we got to the clearing Max was there. Along with him there was Mike, Ellie, and of course there was Phoebe. I knew she might be here, but did she need to be with him all the time? I wasn't jealous, she was just so freaking annoying. They were having a training session. We walked over to them, taking my place beside Max.

My dad was thrown off, not expecting Max. Right, I forgot to tell him. "Um dad, Max kind of followed me into the portal, and got bit, so now he is a wolf too."

"Hey Kevin." Max said with a slight wave of his hands.

"Kevin, what are you doing here?" Mike came up, shaking my dad's hand. I wanted to scoff, but knew I would get looks.

"Cassie wanted me to train her." My dad replied, firmly shaking Mike's hand.

"If you want you can join me up front, help me give these newbies some tricks. I have been having some trouble helping Max."

"Hey it happens." My dad replied.

Just as they were talking, the wolf from the hospital joined us. The one that had recognized me. He joined next to me. We all three got on our fours. Max was having trouble transforming.

"Max, just think about your wolf, how much he wants to be free at this moment."

Max only nodded his head, I could see Phoebe fuming out of the corner of my eyes. I transformed into Bexley. Reminding myself of everything.

"For this session, I want you to bring back a big hunt. I don't want a squirrel, or rabbit. The one to bring the biggest catch, won't have to run laps."

"Little tip of advice, feel around you, don't just use your senses, use your mind, and most importantly trust your wolf." My dad told us.

We all three looked at each other. Mike then pointed towards the woods. We all took off at our own paces, mine faster than theirs. I didn't notice at first how big my wolf was compared to theirs. I took off to the left, venturing further, and further into the woods.

I did see a rabbit, it was a big juicy one too. Bexley reminded me we couldn't get it. At least not yet. We were looking around, but then we heard voices.

"What's that?" I asked her.

"I don't know," she replied back to me.

"Should we go check it out?"

"I don't think we should Cassie."

"Come on Bex, don't you want to know?"

I heard her sigh, and we crept around the corner. We were hiding behind a tree, but we could make out two figures. It was Rory, and another guy.

"What do you mean we can't be together?"

"My parents would flip if they found out I was dating a dragon."

"I am part dragon Ethan."

"I know, I really care about you Rory."

"It doesn't matter, I thought I could trust you."

"I am so sorry."

"It doesn't even matter anymore."

"Rory, don't go."

"Don't ever talk to me again, Ethan. If I hear a whisper I will personally kill you myself."

I could hear Rory's footsteps fading, I wanted to go after him. He seemed really upset, betrayed even. Betrayed. The prophecy hit me again. "A crossbred, born of the creation of betrayal." With any prophecy you can't take it literally, everything is a bunch of metaphors.

I could hear a faint hint of a tingle in my mind, stronger thinking about the prophecy. "Eavesdropping I see."

Our tail went up, Bexley turned around to reveal the wolf from the hospital. "No, what would give you that impression?"

"The way you just whipped around."

"Well I wasn't."

"Sure."

"Hey, you're the wolf from the hospital right?"

He tilted his head at me, starting to circle around me. "Yeah, what about it?"

"You knew me."

He squinted his eyes at me, "I know of you, there's a difference."

I watched him, he kept circling me, and I started to feel uncomfortable. "Well how do you know me?"

He stopped, looking me up and down, 'You don't know do you?"

"Know what?"

"You're the most wanted target in our world."

"Why?"

"I don't, someone said you were dangerous. You know there is a bounty for your head, dead or alive." He started to pace me again.

Now I really was uncomfortable, almost as if I was prey. "Why would someone put a bounty on my head?"

"I don't know, all I know is that Mike said that the one with the biggest catch didn't have to run. I think I might kill two birds with one stone." With that he snared his teeth at me, and started charging forwards toward me.

The human part of me was completely terrified, but then Bexley was there. She wasn't backing down either. I remembered what my dad had said about trusting my wolf.

"I trust you." I said to her, I could hear her sigh with relief.

He came charging at us, it all felt like it was in slow motion. As soon as he got close to us, Bexley stepped, biting into his leg. Which caused him to bow down, and whimper.

The electricity from my powers gliding into my body, I could feel my power radiating. I wanted him to experience the power. I growled at him. With the same leg we bit into, I dragged him out into the opening back to the group. It earned me horrified looks from the others. I quickly shifted back, so did he, his leg bleeding, but slowly starting to heal.

"He tried to attack me." I uttered, I kept my distance from him.

"Why would he do that?" My dad asked, coming between us.

"There is a bounty on my head."
