As the young Wynter closed his eyes, choosing to trust his brother in his desperation, Delbert Cornel knew there was only one person in the midlands who would be able to answer Alanor's questions.
"Trust me, brother," Delbert whispered before casting a sleep spell on his brother. Alanor was too tired to even say anything, so with the spell, he let his brother take care of him. He trusted that his brother wouldn't hurt him and that was true.
Delbert would die first before seeing his little brother hurt again, and that could explain the next choice he had made, a choice so consequential, but a choice that was brought to the both of them by the simple idea of time.
It really was time, after over five hundred years.
'Maybe I should just carry you on my back this time,' Delbert said to himself as he watched his brother sleeping in his arms. He knew that where he was headed was going to be a long journey, and while he could portal, Delbert wanted to walk there.
