"Ssss—sss!"
The golden beetle, gravely injured, let out an extremely woeful sound, but soon, the sound abruptly stopped.
Richard's hands were enveloped in energy as he fiercely gripped the sides of the golden beetle's head. With a forceful yank, a "tear" sound was heard as he ripped off its entire head.
Without a head, the golden beetle did not die. Instead, from the wound at its neck, a pair of new eyes emerged—these were the real eyes, and behind them was the real head—the eyes that Richard shattered and the head he tore off were merely disguises, mere substitutes.
Richard was not surprised. Just now, with the long observation of the Eye of Gaze, he had already realized this.
He reached out towards the eyes exposed at the neck wound, but the golden beetle was very cautious, quickly retracting its real eyes and real head back into its body, closing the wound, not letting Richard succeed.
