Dragon King's Harem Chapter 372. Chaos V

The swamp was eerily silent for a moment, the only sounds being the heavy breathing of Viperax and his soldiers and the distant rustle of leaves.

The Nightshade Ravagers had retreated, sensing that the balance of power had shifted drastically. But the real threat, the figure that had led them into this trap, was still out there.

Viperax's thoughts raced as he tried to anticipate the figure's next move. 'This thing is playing with us,' he thought, his frustration mounting. 'It knows it can't win in a direct fight, so it's trying to wear us down.'

The figure suddenly reappeared on a rocky outcrop, its form barely visible in the dim light. It stood still for a moment, as if taunting them, before once again disappearing into the shadows. Viperax's eyes burned with fury as he watched it go.

"We need to corner it," Viperax said, his voice low and intense. "Surround it and cut off its escape routes."

The soldiers nodded, spreading out in a wide arc as they moved toward the area where the figure had vanished. Their senses heightened, every shadow a potential hiding place for their elusive enemy.

Viperax led the charge, his massive form crashing through the underbrush as he advanced. He could feel the ground vibrating with each step.

But chasing the figure wasn't easy. It moved with an uncanny speed and agility, sometimes vanishing from their sight only to reappear in another location moments later.

It was clear that the figure could easily escape if it wanted to, but instead, it seemed to be leading them in circles, always just out of reach. This calculated behavior suggested a plan, one that kept Viperax and his soldiers on edge and frustrated.

'What is this thing?' Viperax thought, his mind racing as he tried to anticipate the figure's next move. 'Is it that guy from the witch tribe?' That possibility seemed logical, given their known expertise in magic and stealth. But if it was him, why had it been surprised when Viperax and his soldiers transformed into their true forms?

Despite his frustrations, Viperax couldn't shake the feeling that this figure had something to do with Argod. Even though none of Argod's known subordinates matched the figure's description, it was entirely possible that Argod had enlisted his other subordinates. The Dragon King was cunning and resourceful, always a step ahead. Viperax knew better than to underestimate him.

The figure's movements grew more deliberate. It seemed to be guiding them somewhere, maintaining just enough distance to stay out of reach but close enough to keep their attention.

The chase led them deeper into the swamp, the ground growing softer and more treacherous. Viperax noticed the change in terrain and grew wary. 'Why is it leading us this way?' he wondered. The realization hit him suddenly—quicksand. The swamp was known for its dangerous patches of quicksand, and it seemed their quarry was trying to lure them into one.

"Fools!" Viperax bellowed, a fierce grin spreading across his face. "You won't be able to kill a lizard in the soil!"

His soldiers roared in agreement, their voices echoing through the swamp. They channeled their mana, using their earth spells to control the treacherous ground beneath them. The quicksand began to solidify and lift, turning from a deadly trap into a stable platform that supported their weight. The figure, watching from a distance, seemed surprised once again by their resourcefulness.

Viperax didn't waste a moment. He slammed his feet into the ground with all his might. The earth responded to his command, sending a stream of jagged spikes surging towards the figure. The spikes shot up from the ground, their sharp tips gleaming in the moonlight as they raced towards their target. The figure scrambled to flee, its movements now more frantic and less controlled.

"Stone Wall!" Viperax shouted, his voice filled with determination and power.

The ground trembled and rumbled as walls of solid stone erupted from the earth, surrounding the figure on all sides. The walls closed in, trapping the figure in a tight, inescapable space. For a moment, everything was still, the only sound being the faint rustling of leaves and the distant calls of nocturnal creatures.

Viperax advanced, his eyes burning with fury and triumph. "You've led us on quite the chase," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "But it ends here."

The figure, now cornered and with no escape, seemed to realize the gravity of the situation. Its earlier confidence was gone, replaced by a palpable sense of fear. Viperax could see it in the way it moved, the slight tremor in its stance.

"Show yourself!" Viperax demanded again, his voice echoing off the stone walls.

The figure didn't respond, but then it laughed a hoarse and eerie sound. He had enough of the games and decided to confront the figure himself. He shifted back into his humanoid form, storming towards the trapped figure with fury and determination.

Suddenly, another stone wall erupted from the ground, blocking his path and covering his sight of the figure. Viperax was momentarily shocked, his eyes widening in disbelief. 'How is this possible?' he thought, realizing that the figure had some control over the earth as well.

But his shock lasted only a moment. His anger reignited, and he prepared to destroy the wall with his bare hand. As he gathered his strength, he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. The figure, cloaked in shadows, was hovering—or crawling, to be precise—up the stone wall, trying to escape.

"RAHH!" Viperax roared, the sound filled with primal fury. Without thinking, he threw his sword with all his might.

The blade sliced through the air. It struck the figure squarely in the back, piercing through the cloak and embedding itself deep into its flesh. The figure let out a pained scream, its body jerking violently as it was pinned against the stone wall. Blood spattered against the rocks.

Viperax didn't wait for the figure to recover. He leapt forward, scaling the stone wall with powerful, determined movements. His claws dug into the rock, his eyes never leaving the wounded figure. He could see the figure struggling, trying to pull the sword from its back.
