With a new project to tackle at the research institute, Chi Gui, in her capacity as an academician, became quite busy these past two days.
By the time she finished her work, it was nearly one in the morning, without her realizing how late it had gotten.
The research institute provided a car service for transportation, but Chi Gui was too exhausted. After washing her face to wake up, she didn't think too much and decided to leave on her own.
She reached the roadside, ready to hail a taxi to go home.
Just then, three figures suddenly emerged from a nearby alley and approached her from behind.
