In these years, not a day has gone by without him thinking of her.
He has been stationed at the border for nearly twenty years. Except for the occasional return to the Capital City at the beginning, he has rarely come back since. This time, it's been at least five or six years since the last time he returned. Each visit to the Capital City lasts only a few days, and he might not even get a chance to see her before leaving again.
He does not not want to come back, nor does he not want to see her frequently, but ultimately he fears that he cannot control the impulse in his heart, the impulse to take her back.
They are clearly in love, but fate insists on tormenting them to this extent. He does not even know whether everything he has done is right or wrong. He only knows that now, nothing can be undone.
After avoiding it for so many years, he is tired. He wants to come back. He wants to see her, even if it's just watching her from afar.
