"Y-you're really good at this," she said, the words slipping out before she could stop them. She tried to push him back, but her hands landed weakly on his chest. Kyle blinked at her, confused—though the small smile on his lips didn't move.
"Good at what?" he asked, leaning in just a little, curious rather than teasing.
Yvienna looked away, annoyed at herself. Her heart was acting up again—too fast, too loud, too obvious. She hated that he could make her feel like this so effortlessly. She took a slow breath, doing her best to pull herself together. She didn't want him thinking she was always the flustered one. She had more control than that. Or at least she wanted to.
She straightened her shoulders, grounding herself in that small decision before meeting his eyes again.
"Good at making my heart flutter," she said, steady this time. No shakiness. She held his gaze because she refused to shrink away.
