Chapter 84 - The Maroon Chamber

"U-uhm… I guess you two have had a long drive. You must be tired," Meg said at last, her gentle voice breaking the thick, almost suffocating silence in the hall.

"Yes, Mom. I should bring Yvienna to her room first," Kyle replied softly. His hand slid naturally to Yvienna's waist, warm and gentle, guiding her forward as they began to walk.

"Ah, yes… then sleep well, my darling," Meg said, leaning in to press a soft peck on Yvienna's cheek.

"You too, Mommy. Sleep tight," Yvienna replied sweetly, her voice light as she continued walking beside Kyle, allowing herself to be led.

As they passed through the hall, her gaze drifted to the massive dark oak doors lining the walls. Between them stood ancient-looking vases as tall as small tables, overflowing with elegant plants that cast soft shadows beneath the framed artworks hanging above. The air smelled faintly of polished wood and candle wax. The entire hallway was breathtaking.
