Less than a couple of years later, hardened by grief and wise beyond her years, Chija made a painful decision. She asked her godparents to send Wooja back to Thailand, away from the world that had stolen their parents and scarred their childhood. She did not want to burden the couple who took them in briefly in Thailand to shoulder a responsibility that might invite harm to their doorsteps.
So she requested they send some caretakers and let her little brother grow up in a different country with some of her trusted men and these caretakers. She wanted him to have a life untouched by bloodshed, one where he could grow up safe, far from the ghosts he couldn't escape. She wanted him to live as normally as possible.
