As the Hippocrates—someone who was an expert on this kind of examination—softly instructed the battered young boy to try and expand his chest and diaphragm through the fresh and a bit of salty air that he should've breathed into his lungs long time ago… however how aching it was for the young boy… the lady Hippocrates gently placed a device specialized in amplifying any aberrant sound she needed to hear under the young boy's chest for a thorough assessment of his overall health,

It was a hollow wooden tube with a small funnel at each end, one to be placed on the patient's chest and the other on the Hippocrates' ear. A simple medical tool yet it worked best in detecting any wheeze, any crackle, any rhonchi, and any absent or diminished sound as the patient breathed in deeply,

And in the young boy's case, the lady Hippocrates did find an abnormality,
