Chapter 33 - A little girl

David had let Steph know about the actions he had taken and allowed her to share the mental link with the little girl, apparently this was the right thing to do as Steph spent hours 'talking' to the child.

Almost one year later David got the call he was expecting, their building was on fire, Marina, the child's mother had thrown her daughter to Ivan who was outside the building, but she had no way out.

David nodded and called Steph to him, then he teleported Marina to himself. From this moment, Natasha needed to believe her mother had died.

David watched as Ivan attempted to get into the house, all the while Steph explained things to Marina. She explained how she and her daughter would live long lives, and that David would be looking over the little girl to ensure she was safe.

'Hello little Nat, are you warm enough?' David gently spoke to the girl who was sitting in the snow watching Ivan trying to save her mom.

'Magic man? Can you help mommy? Papa Ivan says she is stuck.

'No little Nat, your mommy decided to save you, that means she cannot be with you. I am sorry.'

'No mommy? I love mommy a lot, I want mommy with me. Why did mommy save me if she cannot be with me?'

'Mommy loves you a lot to little Nat, that is why she saved you. Now it will be Papa Ivan, Steph, and I with you. Do not worry, Steph, and I will never leave you little Nat. Sometimes things might seem very bad, but Steph and I will always be there for you.'

'I miss my mommy Magic man. I want to see her.'

'Hm, maybe little Nat, Steph, and I can remind you about all the love your mother had for you in your dreams. Would you like us to try to help you dream about your mommy sometimes?'

'YES! Please, Magic man, I want to see my mommy in my dreams.'

'Okay little Nat, but they will only be memories, okay?'

'Okay Magic man, is the pretty lady with you?'

'You mean Steph, yes little Nat, if you want to talk to her just think her name really hard.'

With that the child started talking to Steph, telling her about her mommy saving her and everything David had told her, although Steph knew the truth she could not help crying as she spoke to the child.

Looking to Marina David spoke, "She has asked I let her remember you in her dreams, I do not mind letting you into them as long as you promise to never tell her the truth until she arrives on this island."

"Of Course! I vill not tell her anything, I vill be good, I vant to see her!"

"This was not a threat; I will let you see your child as much as I can. I only want you both safe, please do not make me out to be the bad guy here."

David sighed and headed to his lab, he was hoping he could stop a certain Man of Steel meeting a nasty fate and at the same time copying his DNA, but that was some time away.

David found the high-temperature storage containers and studied them down to their Quarks. It was always easier and quicker to replicate something he understood and studied. This was what David loved about his reality-warping powers, with his scientific knowledge and En Sabah Nur's he was able to create or warp anything as he already had an in-depth understanding of the building blocks of the Universe.

Having decided his next step, he asked Steph to stay in contact with the girl, nothing should happen to her yet but a few failed kidnapping attempts.

David soared into the sky and started traveling directly towards the Sun. He was going to need an energy source and he knew just the place to get one, well more than one, it was just something anyone for the next century could even contemplate.

Whilst peacefully traveling through space David's thoughts harped on the mission ahead of him. Alone, even now he was not strong enough to face at least two on the incoming threats physically. There was no doubt that he was one of the strongest beings currently on earth. The problem was those two words, currently and on Earth.

Galactus. If he was facing the entity from the movie, he stood a chance with only the Fantastic Four helping or the herald. If he was facing the true Galactus who was merged with the embodiment of the Sixth Infinity, then things became a hell of a lot harder unless it was starving. Starving meant weaker.

So far, the time-line from the movies was no real help, and since he discovered even Strange's time-line was missing things, urgh.

Arriving at his destination David grinned, before him was the planet, Mercury. In the 21st century, there was a lot of debate about it having a liquid core due to its high density. In David's time, they had mined the core and found it to be a liquid that not only retained its own heat to remain liquid but emitted large amounts of energy that lasted in theory for centuries. This was untested though as they had only been using it for 30 years.

David started creating large high temp storage containers that he had enhanced, he was actually enjoying this as it took him to his roots, not worrying about aliens and gods, just working with his knowledge and the tools the Universe gave him.

It took David a week to safely drain enough core and not affect the rotation of Mercury. Heading back, he smiled a little when he saw the satellite he had in orbit, he recalled GCA had sent more into the solar system to find metals they might need.
