Chapter 104 - TORREN MAKES PLANS

TORREN BOUGHT GIFTS

When Sherry turned to the lawyer and said, "Sir, here he comes. "

Seeing the young man enter, Thomas extended his hand, saying, "I am Mr Thomas, Shawney's lawyer."

Thomas felt a chill when Torren looked him in the eyes. "Sir, I asked for Sid and Curtis's address, not her lawyer, but seeing that you are here, it is nice to meet you."

Reaching his hand across to him, Torren said, "I am really sorry, Sir, but this is important?"

"It is all right, young man."

"Sir, I know this is shocking news, but I need to know why my wife is unhappy this day. She is normally very cheerful. I know her Uncle died, but today seems to hold some great significance to her."

"You are right, Son, this day is her mom's death anniversary and also her birthday." Seeing him sit down with tears in his eyes. "Son, are you alright?"

"Can I ask you something, Sir?"

"Yes, anything, young man?"

"Sir, do you think any member of her family will remember it's her birthday?"

"I can't say, Son, her family behaves very strangely at times. I can't say who can understand them?"

"I know, so I will need your help to remove that unhappiness from her face and put on a smile and joy. You see, Sir, it's my first time in Chicago, and I will need a nice cheesecake, a bucket of ice cream and some good-tasting food for around five this evening.

During the day, I will let you know how much I expect. And Sir, I would greatly appreciate it if you could be here. She trusts and respects you a lot, and please don't reveal this to her when she returns."

"We will not, I promise you."

"Now is the car ready?" Torren was collecting the keys as he hurried out, thinking, 'I have to hurry and get her some gifts and a ring.'

Giving dad the keys, "Dad, today is Shawney's birthday. I need to get her a dress, a pair of shoes, and a ring?"

Seeing his dad reach inside his jacket pocket and pull out a small box, "Here, Son, I brought this thinking you might need it, it's your Mother's wedding ring."

"Oh, Dad, this is just perfect." Seeing the tears in his dad's eyes, wondering, 'What was he thinking.

When he whispers, "Those were your mother's exact words."

"Thank you so much, Dad, but how did you know I wanted to get her a ring?"

"Son, Lasandra and Careen told me you told them that you are married, so I had it clean and polished for when you are ready."

Hugging his Dad, "I love you so much, Dad, and all the time I misbehaved with you, I am so sorry."

"Never mind that, as long as you are happy, I am happy."

"Okay, come on, my precious children, we have to get your mummy a pretty gift."

"Daddy, me, I want cake, daddy and ice cream," seeing how excited Gretta was.

"Okay, honey, and what do you want to get for mummy Tray?"

"Daddy, I want to buy a pair of shoes for mummy?"

"Okay, then I will get a dress, so let us go."

Watching them drive away, happy, Thomas closed the window and gave Sherry a list of things to order. Instructing the young lady that he will confirm the amount?

Then he leaves, thinking as he goes, ' He seems to care a lot about Shawney. Is this the person Ken was telling me about when he returned? Ken had approved of the young man, but he said he wasn't well.' Trying to recall his name, scratching his head, 'Boy, these days I am forgetting so much.'

Train, drive into town looking for a parking space, then decide to visit the mall. Seeing it is a bit early in the day, and it won't be rushed. Torren searched from store to store looking for a beautiful dress and shoes.

Entering DK's boutique in the mall, hearing Dad saying, "We should get something in here, it looks more fashionable than some of the other stores.

When Tray points to a beautiful salmon-coloured dress, "You like this for mummy's son?"

"It is a very pretty dress, Daddy!"

"I need something really pretty so your mummy will smile."

When a young lady came to assist us, asking, "If we needed any help?"

"I need a very beautiful dress for my wife, she is slightly taller than you and about the same size."

"Sir, we have a few beautiful ones in this showcase. How much do you plan on spending so I can help you out quickly?"

"Never mind the cost, looking at the dresses in the showcase, when I glimpse this cream with brown stripes, it looks good, but Dad has been buying for her since she has been visiting our home.

From the very first day she visited when Dad returned home, until the time we got married, Dad did all the shopping for the things she wore at home. "Dad, what do you think about this cream? It looks lovely."

"How about that orange? It will certainly look radiant on her?"

"Where? I am not seeing any orange dress?"

Pointing to another showcase a bit further behind where Torren was standing. Torren asked the young lady to assist him.

When she said, "Sir, that dress is over a hundred thousand dollars, as she removes it from the showcase, it glitters with the gold treading.

Taking it from the clerk, Torren checks the size on the label, "Dad, this has our logo on the label."

"Then if it's from the factory, we should not have any problem getting her size. What size is it, because Mavis always sends an eight for her."

Hearing the young lady say, "It is a ten, Sir."

"My dear, search through and see if it has any eight with this label?"

When she returned with this beautiful burgundy with gold treading, Torren heard Gretta clapping, "You like this one for mummy, honey?"

"Yep, pretty!"

"I love it to honey. I am sure your mummy will look very pretty in it, okay, we will take this dress, and I would like it gift wrapped, please."

Following her to the cashier to pay as another customer enters the store, "Ma'am, can you cash this dress, then gift wrap it, please? There is another customer."

When she raised her head, "Torren, is that you? I didn't know you were in town?"
