Shawney looked Candis in the eye, "You might think I am naive, young Mistress. You think I don't know you are afraid of me being near your brother. Well, I am not worried, and you shouldn't worry either. I am just here as a guest in your father's house. And if that is what bothers you, I could leave very quietly and just as easily as I came. But from where I am standing right now, it seems you need to work on your own problem."
"I don't have a problem."
"Then you have nothing to worry about, and my being here should not concern you. Now, as you can see, the child needs some quiet and no distractions, so please excuse me, Gretta must take her nap. Oh, and Candis, I would like you to inform your husband that when I am at the pool with the children, I will appreciate my privacy."
"Thinking about it now, I do have a problem; they are my nephew and niece, and I think you should leave."
"Well, I will leave when I am good and ready, but pass the information to your husband, will you?"
"You cannot tell us what to do, or where and when we can go to the pool?"
"Well, don't say I didn't warn you, now honey closes those pretty eyes for me, now that's my little girl."
Ignoring Candis, Shawney left the room when Gretta fell asleep, knowing Candis was angry and watching her as she left.
Torren clenched his fist, 'Is this why Candis left the office early?' Coming out from under the step when they were out of sight.
Going to the kitchen, wondering, 'Where did Shawney go?' "Mrs Louise, have you seen Shawney?"
"She is right in the flower garden, Son. I tried telling her the sun is hot and the groundsman will attend to the flower garden, but she continues to work in the garden in this hot sun."
"Thanks, Mrs Louise, I will go and speak with her." Seeing a lot of bags with manure, and some had plants set on them. Torren admires how beautiful the roses look and all the hard work she put into them.
She has been attending to the flower garden since we got married, about three weeks or more now. Approaching her, he cleared his throat, asking, as he stooped next to her, "Will you be long again?"
Seeing the way she smiles, it was very welcoming, "Hello, you, I wasn't expecting you home so early, I made some rolls, would you like one?"
"Didn't you go visit the hospital today?"
"No, I decided to take a few days off, so I gave Liz a week off; she has been with them for so long, and she looks a bit worn out."
Seeing his disappointment, "Did you make some plans?"
"I was just thinking about taking you out for a nice Valentine's dinner."
Hearing her laugh as she returns to her task, of planting her roses, "We are in the middle of May, so what Valentine are you talking about. Then she walks up close to him and whispers only in his ear.
"You know that Sunday is Mother's Day, and we have two children?"
"And what do you need for Mother's Day, and if you didn't notice, I was trying to use my imagination a few days earlier?"
"That you can do, so how about when I am done here, we make some plans?"
Looking up towards him, seeing a wicked smile, he said, "I have something to show you."
Whispering, "You do, boy, I love surprises?"
"Yes!" But his smile was breathtaking, from our very first meeting at the hospital to now, he has changed so much.
He is no longer angry with everyone, and when Jeff talks, he ignores all his foolishness, as though he said nothing, not losing control as before.
Since that first night we shared our bodies, he had his breakthrough. He visited the clinic after I insisted. Joseph always calls after each visit to report that he has shown much improvement.
Lost in her thoughts, feeling his touch, Shawney looked down. It seemed he shifted some of the bags away. "Torren, where are the other bags?"
"What bags? I didn't do anything?"
"Tell me, where did you hide the bags?"
"I don't know what you are talking about."
Seeing him run towards the back, "I will get you."
"You first have to catch me?"
"You seem to forget, I can run fast."
Hearing her near him, Torren turns around, catching her in his arms, spinning with her around in his arms.
"You, my gorgeous, beautiful wife, are driving me out of my mind. I can't seem to think at work, and when I think about taking you out for a nice romantic dinner? You're spoiling my plan."
Reaching her hands around his neck, about to kiss his lips, when Candis calls out to her, "Shawney, have you forgotten, you are a missionary and need to carry yourself as such."
Hearing her chuckle, she let go of her hands from around his neck, "I have a watchdog, so no hanky-panky.
Thank you, Candis, you just saved me from committing a big sin. Your brother is to be blamed for that."
Whispering to him, "I hope you know, I am not going to take your blame?" Seeing her run up to the house.
Before dinner, Shawney took an hour's rest. When I did come down for dinner, everyone was already sitting around the dinner table except Shawney.
As I take my seat at the table, Candis said, "Torren, from what I observed this afternoon, you need to realise that Shawney is Dad's guest. And you must start behaving as though you are the heir of this house."
"So, what do you want me to do, Candis?" Torren questions.
"Start conducting yourself as such, not as a playboy."
