Seeing Liz coming down the stairs, Train hurried to her side, asking, "Why the delay, Liz? Why is Shawney still in her room?" Train inquiries.
"Sir, from what I overheard, the young lady whispers, she didn't misbalance as she told the young master. Sir, her Aunty kicked her, that's how she fell. Sir, her knee is really bad, and she is unable to walk. I am going to get her a painkiller and something for the wound, and to rub the foot that has swollen."
"Thanks, Liz, try and do your best." Anger boils from deep within, but Train just walks to the front of the house, so he won't say anything.
Candis walked away when Julien said, "Mom, I am ashamed of you. Why did you have to kick her? Now she doesn't have a dress to wear?"
"Very good, let her stay indoors so there won't be any flaunting of herself, as though she is some sort of queen?"
Carl never takes his eyes off Torren; he notices what had occurred when Torren took her upstairs, not wanting to intervene. He also stood quietly aside, watching his family.
Noticing when Candis leaves and smiles as she walks to where Jeff was, who was smiling when Shawney fell.
Inching close enough to overhear Jeff and Candis talking, "Her family is some real characters." Candis whispers to Jeff
"Tell me about it?" Jeff laugh.
Scoping through the crowd for Travis, seeing him leaning by the kitchen, chatting with a young lady;
Thinking 'This is perfect then he went next to them, "I see you two are enjoying the party?"
"Yes, we are," Candis replies.
"Have you seen Careen? I am trying to find her. I heard that she has to make a presentation in the morning."
"Carl, it is only ten o'clock."
"I know, but she has to consider the baby and get her rest. Will you help me find her?"
Hearing Candis mutter something, then walks away, standing next to Jeff, "Look at that?"
"What!"
"Shawney, she is even more beautiful now than before."
"Good Lord, doesn't anything stop her?" Jeff replies.
"You want to stop her, Jeff? First, you have to go through me, then Dad."
"What the hell are you talking about, Carl?"
"I was listening to you and Candis. Look at her now, laughing at someone else is not a good thing, brother.
Observing Dad going to them, "I wonder which is worse, Shawney falling or Candis making a scene?"
"Why are you against Travis so much?"
"Because you, my elder brother, don't want to see who Travis is? But from what I have gathered, he is a womaniser and a gold digger. You feel Shawney wants Torren's money, but all she wants for him is to feel better and be happy. If you haven't realised yet, she is the one who will keep him sane, but it appears you don't care. Sometimes, I feel you are glad when he misbehaves and smashes things?"
"Carl, you don't understand."
"What is there to understand, Jeff?"
"Carl, the day Torren gets a wife, who knows what will change. What might take place in this house?"
"Jeff, tell me, is being in this house more important than his happiness? You and your wife have a job, so what is the problem? Don't you think you should trust him? He has always taken care of us, but all this belongs to him? No matter who it may be, or who comes into his life, he will not change for the worse, but for the better. Dalia was good for him, but you and Candis keep pushing wedges and finding ways to instigate problems, putting him in the middle, so he had to choose."
Pointing towards Candis and Travis as Dad take them away from the crowd. "Look for yourself, Dad already warned you and now Candis. If you failed to realise, this house has all the luxury you and your wife enjoy. So you'd better stop stirring up trouble. If you failed to realise that Dad treats our wives better than us. So, tell me why you want to destroy your marriage, because you know Lasandra will kick against it. Take heed, and go right ahead and interfere with Torren, and brother, you will be the one who will regret it."
Looking at Carl walk away, thinking, 'He is such a fool. Since Torren returned home, all they ever think about is Torren and Shawney. Why has she come into his life? I know Dad has something to do with that. I must find out?"
Mingling around them, getting closer to the family. "Are you all enjoying yourself?" Jeff asks, as he stood next to Ken, who was seated at the table.
Ken responded, "It's a lovely dinner, Son, and yes, we are enjoying ourselves."
"I don't suppose we have been properly introduced. I am Jeff MacCarty, but how do you all know my Dad?"
"Son, we are Shawney relatives. When your Dad invited Robert, he extended the invite to us."
"Are you saying you and the Roberts are relatives?" Jeff tries to sound as if he were hearing this news for the first time.
"Yes, Son, Paula is my sister, and we all came for their anniversary service, but tomorrow we are all returning to Chicago."
"I hope you are not taking Shawney away with you?"
"No, Son, my child will be staying with her Aunt for a few more days."
"I am glad to hear that she has been helping my brother a lot."
"We heard that. Well, it was nice meeting you, Jeff, but we must be going."
"You don't have to leave so early?"
"Yes, we do, son."
Shifting aside from Jeff when Julien asks, "Dad, do we really have to leave now?"
Noticing the way Shantel was signalling Julien, "Yes, Shantel, we do, Mitch, anytime you all are ready, we are?"
"What is going on, Uncle? Is it still early?"
