After what felt like an eternity of being confined to the my bed, all thanks to my stubborn fever. I was finally granted my freedom. My grandmother, Lola Consuelo, gave me her approval to finally sniff some outside air.
"Come on, apo," she'd said, already halfway out the door. "Let's get some color back on those cheeks."
And thus began our tour. Lola Consuelo didn't just walk me around, she told me stories about the house, how it was built and all her potions, how the house was safe because of her protection spell. We swept through her old house, past all the religious statues and shelves stacked with esoteric-looking jars and then, she ushered me into her backyard and sprawling garden.
It wasn't just a normal garden full of colorful beautiful flowers, it was a rainforest, a place where apothecaries will go wild harvesting different kinds of plants, and a leafy parliament all rolled into one. The air here was fresh with nature, and a part smelled thick, something… unique.
