Volume 2: The Sis-con Demon Lord Joins the PartyPrologueAuthor: Geraint

"Ugh…"

I sat in the corner of the chamber with Lilith beside me—unconscious from the summoning spell. She finally stirred, sitting up while rubbing her eyes, then let out a yawn.

"Huh? Where are we?"

"Good morning, Lilith."

As I greeted her, she looked toward the open windows of the chamber. It was already dark outside, and the students who were summoned with us were asleep on the floor, covered with blankets.

"How long have I been sleeping, Seir-sama?" she asked nervously.

"The whole day. You missed a lot."

Her face turned pale, and she immediately bowed her head in front of me.

"Forgive me, Seir-sama! I'm a failure as your servant!"

"Ssssh. Be silent."

I pointed my thumb toward my other side, where Yuuka and Shiina were sleeping together. Their eyes were wet with tears, and they held hands tightly, trying to comfort each other. Beside them were Riko and Kaho-san, followed by a line of other girls. The group had been separated by gender—the boys were on the other side of the room.

We were being watched by knights, some of whom were awake and taking turns on guard duty. The only illumination in the room came from the lamps hanging on the walls. Soldiers roamed about, checking on us. A few of them even glared at me when they noticed the beautiful girls in our group.

"Tsk."

The irritation on their faces revealed their true intent. I kept my eye on their every move.

"Should I kill them?"Lilith's voice was low, seething with anger.

"Not yet. The others are here. I don't want them to witness anything horrible."

"I see."

She took a deep breath and leaned back against the wall, calming herself.

"I wonder where we were summoned to…"

"This is our home world, Lilith."

"Huh? Really?"

"Yeah. The language they're using is the same as the humans from our world. They have these rings everyone wears—they help with communication, even with the language differences. They handed them out to us."

I had one of those rings, which Kaho-san had given me. I slipped it onto Lilith's hand.

"What about you, Seir-sama? Don't you need one too?"

"Don't worry. I already learned their language a long time ago from the castle's library. I used it to speak with human refugees in that village."

"As expected of the genius prince, Seir-sama."

"I'm not."

"Hehe... You don't have to be modest, Seir-sama. I've been serving you for a long time—as one of the Disaster Witches and your loyal maidservant."

I sighed at her praise.

"For now, we need to make sure everyone stays safe and return them to their own world. They shouldn't be involved in the matters of our home. Humanity here is beyond saving. Whatever happens to them is their punishment for the sins they blamed on us demons. They don't understand—we're just another race that wants to live peacefully. We're nothing like those demon beasts."

"Seir-sama…"

Lilith murmured, her gaze dropping to the floor.

Her expression reminded me just how depressing this world truly was.
