Chapter 440 - CH.420: Titans.

( Mitsuki's POV )

As the bizarre giant was running towards us, I swung my new sword and an energy blade shot out from it, my attack sliced the giant clean in half and its upper half trailed along the ground for a good few meters before stopping.

We were going to do a quick analysis of the creature, but it seems that being cut in half was barely an inconvenience for it, using his arms he shot forward trying to eat us whole.

The next to act was Elze, and with a powerful punch she blew the giant's head off.

Despite the two powerful attacks we used, the creature hadn't released much blood; what it was releasing in large quantities was steam, for some reason.

We were going to analyze the body but again we failed, although the giant had no head his upper body began to thrash around violently on the ground.

Tatenashi: You're such a nuisance, stop moving already.

Annoyed by the giant Tatenashi's immortal, cockroach-like qualities, she activated her IS and, using laser weapons, completely obliterated both parts of the giant, leaving nothing to analyze.

Mitsuki: Kanzashi, were you able to get any information?

Kanzashi: [ Yes, but you should return to the ship before more of those things appear. ]

Although we didn't have a body to analyze, Kanzashi's mystical eyes could tell us a lot, and when she confirmed that she had the information, we returned to the ship as she requested.

Mitsuki: So, what do you have for us?

Kanzashi: First, it seems that these creatures are called titans and they are classified by their height.

Elze: Titans? That's a generous name for something so fragile; when I hit it, I barely felt any resistance.

Linze: Onee-chan, I don't think you're the best person to measure someone's resistance, you're very strong.

Tatenashi: His vitality, at least, was something worthy of praise.

Kanzashi: Not exactly, they have a weak point, or rather their only vital point, is around the back of their necks, and as long as that part remains, the titan will continue to move and may even be able to regenerate any lost parts over time.

With the new information that Kanzashi collected, we continued our exploration; this time we were all inside the ship.

When we encountered another titan, I jumped out of the ship. When it saw me, it started running towards me, but before it could reach me, I jumped back into the ship.

These creatures wandered aimlessly when they were alone and only became violent when they detected us, now we were observing his reaction when his target disappeared.

The titan remained in violent mode trying to find me and that lasted almost half an hour, after that it returned to slowly wandering aimlessly.

I jumped out of the ship again and cut the spot Kanzashi pointed out as its weak point, and the titan's body immediately went limp, and it quickly disintegrated into steam, not even the bones remained.

We continued exploring and upon finding another titan, Elze jumped out of the ship. This time, when the titan noticed Elze, it slowly walked towards her.

Honestly, the fact that they had different behaviors only made them more disturbing.

Elze was down there to test that supposed regeneration; she fired a Cero at the titan's arm and it knocked it clean off his shoulder, the titan began to release a large amount of steam, and a few minutes later his arm had grown completely.

Not the best regeneration I've seen, but still somewhat worrying, just a little.

Elze fired another Cero through the titan's throat and hit its weak point, with that we continued our exploration.

We found more titans, but now we mostly ignore them; the one we're looking for couldn't be a titan, perhaps he is someone who controls the titans, but the ones we found were directionless and lost, not what we were looking for.

Our ship continued ahead and we saw some titans moving in the same direction, and of course we decided to move in that direction, Minutes later we found our first sign of civilization, a small, ruined village in the middle of a battle.

The first humans we saw were engaged in a battle against multiple titans, one might wonder how normal humans could fight against giant creatures whose only weak point was near their head.

It turns out these humans were using a peculiar contraption around their hips that used hooks and compressed air to fly around buildings, they also used disposable blades to attack the titans' weak point, the fact that they were directly attacking the titans' weak point indicated that this was not a conflict that had recently begun, so that ruled out the possibility that these titans were foreigners from this world, brought by a possible world traveler.

We observed the conflict between the species for a while and realized the questionable effectiveness of the equipment those humans were using, It is true that some of them fought with great skill, but the titans sometimes pulled on the cables, and when people fell to the ground, they were then picked up and eaten by the titans.

I was somewhat confused as to why they did that when the titans had nowhere to dispose of waste; they were close to being animals, and animals don't waste energy or time on unnecessary things, there must be a reason they're doing that.

Tatenashi: It's my turn to go out.
