( Yuuki's POV )
When I entered the mansion that was our team's base my eyes went to a pair of elves that I had seen on my short visit to the city, Ryuu and Aina.
Yuuki: oh I wasn't expecting guests, I don't suppose you were here for a casual conversation.
Ryuu was a waitress and Aina worked at the guild so it was unusual for them to be visiting our base at the same time.
Haruhime: Ryuu has been helping us on our mission, mostly by gathering rumors for us.
Yuuki: oh That is much appreciated, I should give you my personal thanks.
Ryuu: Don't bother, I did that so I could get rid of some money I didn't want.
Yuuki: You gave money to help us... You are interesting Ryuu.
Haruhime: With Ryuu's help, we were able to quickly find our target.
Matsu: You already found your target, why didn't you report that?
Haruhime: Well that was just the beginning, when we found our target he was dead in an alley with a hole in his chest, the divine pearl nowhere to be found, other adventurers were found dead and we believe the incidents were related.
Lilith: That's why we contacted the guild, because this could be the work of one of the groups we know, and Aina is the one they sent.
Yuuki: And how much have you told them?
Haruhime: Nothing yet, we were just about to do that.
Yuuki: Well I guess that's perfect timing on my part.
We sat in the living room with Haruhime's team and we started our conversation, the first thing we said was that the guy they found in the alley with a hole in his chest was on a mission from a god, that was something common in this world and they misunderstood what I meant but that is not important he is already dead.
Then I talked about the possible culprits, the Crimson Ravens and Hydra, the CC goes after other world travelers for recruitment and to take their divine pearls but they wouldn't be wasting their time with random adventurers, they were much more likely to be capturing monsters in the dungeon, that left Hydra or maybe this was the work of another group that we didn't know about, Hydra's mission was simple, they believed that magic and other supernatural powers were something sacred that belonged to them by right and only to them, that they were the chosen ones.
After getting all that information Aina returned to the guild to report to her superiors, Ryuu was going to leave the house too but when she got up we heard a scream outside the mansion.
???: I know you're there, weird-eyed freak! Come out and face me, we have a score to settle.
Yuuki: Is he talking about me?
I threw that question to the girls even though I didn't expect an answer, I knew the one who was screaming was coming for me, I left the mansion and although it was not necessary for the girls to accompany me, they followed me anyway.
Outside the mansion there was only one person, he had silver hair and canine ears, I recognized the guy as one of the ones who tried to stop me during my escape with Haruhime but I didn't know his name so I consulted with our best source of information in this world.
Yuuki: Ryuu, do you know who this guy is?
Ryuu: He's a member of the Loki family. I think his name is Bete.
Yuuki: Thanks for that, Ryuu.
The Bete guy looked angry and ready to fight but I stayed calm as I walked towards him.
Yuuki: hey man, about what happened that night, nothing personal, you were just on the way, just forget about it, that's the healthy thing to do.
Bete: not going to happen. You owe me a rematch.
Yuuki: Do you want to repeat what happened that day?
Bete: I'm not the same person I was that day. Things won't be the same.
Yuuki: I'm not the same as before either, my friend.
I stayed calm and try to defused the situation, but that guy Bete was determined to fight, so all I could do was let out a big sigh.
Yuuki: ok friend, do your worst.
Bete launched himself at me the moment I accepted his challenge and he didn't hold back at all, he was a close combat specialist and threw powerful and fast punches and kicks but none of his attacks could connect, I was dodging effortlessly, and his inability to land any hits frustrated him more and more every moment.
???: Bete stop this now!
I turned my head when I heard another voice at the entrance of the mansion and I saw the two other guys that I fought the night of Haruhime's rescue, plus three girls, Two of them appeared to be twins, with dark skin and black hair, they were similar to members of the Ishtar family, I think they were from a race called amazons, the last one was a blonde-haired girl, with an emotionless expression on her face.
Bete: You bastard, you're making fun of me. Fight back!
Even though I wasn't looking at Bete, he still couldn't land any hits on me, adding to his frustration, maybe he had a small chance against me during our first encounter but that no longer existed.
Yuuki: I don't enjoy abusing of someone weaker than me, but if you want me to hit you so much, I'll oblige.
I activated my sage mode for a moment and threw a quick punch at Bete, his eyes widened as he saw my attack coming but his body was unable to dodge or block, I stopped my fist before it made contact, I didn't hit him directly but my punch created a powerful current of wind that sent Bete flying, his body hit the ground repeatedly and he ended up crashing into a stone pillar that was part of the fence around our mansion.
Bete was disoriented for a moment and his companions tried to help him stand up but he swept their help away and walked away from the mansion alone.
Yuuki: Yukikaze follows that guy. I think he might attract the attention of those we're looking for.
Yukikaze: I'm working on it.
When I told Yukikaze to follow the dog man, she moved so fast that she seemed to have disappeared and then I focused on Bete's companions who were still at our entrance.
