The crystal pulsed again.
Aerin flinched back, shielding her eyes. "That's definitely an ancient seal. The man who set this up wasn't playing around."
Auron tightened his grip on his morning star. "Breaking it by force risks shattering what's inside." Which was exactly why Zann was losing his mind.
He punched the barrier again, fire bursting around his fist. "I don't CARE! Aranea's in there!"
Leonel grabbed his shoulder. "Zann, STOP. You'll hurt her!"
Zann's flames sputtered, but he didn't back down. His breathing was sharp and uneven, like every second Aranea remained trapped was sawing into him.
"K-Kyaaa—"
A weak cry echoed through the chamber.
Everyone froze.
"That wasn't Aranea," Elenea whispered.
