Chapter 616 - Awkward Dance

Ray's journey through the cavernous system of the dungeon was uneventful. He had to admit, he picked a good time to depart. He had no way to tell the time of day within the cavern but judging by mob activity alone he surmised it was night time.

In many ways mobs were just like animals. They rested at night and moved about during the day. There were such a thing as nocturnal animals and mobs but the point was that mobs and humans weren't all too different.

Yet, in spite of these similarities, mobs were recognized not as animals, but as mobs. As someone from the draconic church, Ray understood that labeling creatures as mobs merely due to their occurrence within dungeons was wrong.

The fact that a 'human' dungeon didn't exist was the only basis for separating humanity and mobs from one another. It was from here that human exceptionalism was rooted. The idea that humans were not replicable by dungeons somehow made them an exception to the norm and thus indicated their exceptionalism.
