A player? Unlikely. Opening a room door during curfew is a major survival taboo, unless someone received a note with special content or heard that "one less" voice and is preparing to flee upwards.
An abnormal being? The hotel accommodation guide clearly stated that the hotel's elevator would activate its safety protection system between 01:11 and 06:07, during which entering the elevator is absolutely safe. This means abnormal beings can't use the elevator. Unless the rules have become invalidated.
So, was it the entity that made the "one less" sound? Is it the "hotel employee" mentioned by the kimono-clad woman, or some kind of anomaly within the hotel?
