"Look, Ed, I'm a deer now!" Scarlett pranced down the street, giggling away, completely unconcerned with the stares from others, her free-spirited image endearing to all.
"You look more like a bunny, Scarlett," Adrian laughed heartily from behind, it was only in these moments that the precocious young girl really seemed her age.
After dining out and strolling for several hours, as the clock approached nine, he finally suggested they head home.
"Really? Can't we go back half an hour later?" Scarlett, pulled into the car by Adrian, was somewhat disgruntled, clearly wanting more fun from their playful antics.
"Okay, Scarlett, I don't know how you managed to keep your overnight escapades hidden from mom last time with the help of your sister and brother, but some excuses can work once or twice, not three or four times," Adrian said seriously.
