Xue An listened quietly, saying nothing.
Li Jingxing gave him a bitter smile, "Am I foolish for thinking this way?"
"Of course not!" Xue An said earnestly, then poured tea for Li Jingxing.
"Tell me, if you're willing."
Li Jingxing picked up the teacup, his eyes dazed as he watched the tea leaves floating up and sinking down in the cup. After a long silence, he finally spoke softly.
"I think you probably guessed it; she belongs to the Phoenix Remnant Clan. By her generation, the Phoenix Clan had shrunk to only her."
"When I met her according to Human Clan standards, she was only seventeen or eighteen, an age full of innocence and joy."
"But she was so different, especially her eyes, which seemed to see through everything, yet were wary of everything, both strong and fragile."
At these words, Li Jingxing's face took on a look of reminiscence. "The first time I saw her, I was struck. A voice inside told me to protect her, regardless of any cost."
