Chapter 1 - 1- Shadow

The cabins silence grew deeper year after year as less and less visitors wondered through the forest. As many found their way home, away from the maze that lay behind the Cabins door. Some are still lost deep within the maze while others stay in the beginning, perfering to be near the kitchen, rather than find thier room.

Every single being has a room, each door is paired with a number and name plastered on the wall; waiting for the owner to discover it and its secrets.

Shadow found his room long ago, back when he was a human. He tried to think back to what his name had been but came up blank. For when he died his name had changed on the door as well. He didn't know why he had stayed. Sometimes he would sit and make up scenarios on why he had never left unlike some of the humans he has watched over the years. Perhaps he had been looking for his long lost sister, or maybe he had helped her to escape only to become lost right after. Perhaps he had met a women and fell drastically in Love with her.

He couldnt help but chuckle knowing Love had been left behind with his life before the Cabin. At least that's what he hoped. He had decided that never finding love was far better than forgetting a Love that strong to keep him here.

Over the centuries he had watched many humanoids enter the cabin. It all starts the same. They enter looking for shelter, food, help, or theft. Those looking for help don't find any, while the thieves fill thier pockets, and the hungry fill thier bellies. Then they try to leave to find the door is nowhere to be seen. That's shadows que to appear out of the shadows and scare them, not his intention but usually what happens.

To them he is a large shadow figure barely visible to their eye. A creature ment to devour them in this strange place they found themselves in. Some attempt to fight him finding thier weapon or fist hits nothing but air. Some run down the hall and into the maze not know what they will find ahead. Some ask questions or stay silent, and of course he would respond with answers or a returned silence. There have been very few that look at him without fear. Those are the few he liked to follow and listen to. The others he would check up on and briefly guide but would stay away due to thier fear.

He often wondered what it had been like for him. When he first came to this place. Was he afraid, curious, hungry, or was he a thief? Forever bound to the place he ment to steal from.

Shadow attempted to take a deep breath as he watched a human do so. What had breathing been like? How did it feel to have air in his lungs? He often wondered if he could miss what he couldn't remember.

This human was new. She had pointed ears and fair skin. He had never seen a human with pointed ears before. She stood in the kitchen wearing light blue robes that were tied to her body by a black and sliver corset matched with long black boots. Another strange thing about her was her hair, it was long and silver yet she was young not elderly.

Shadow couldnt help his curiosity as he drifted closer to the woman. She was looking through the cupboards, all were filled with food and glassware. Her brows crinkled to her nose as her lips pressed together. He was about to speak when her soft but fierce voice drifted up to him.

"Why are you watching me?" Her voice felt like a jingle in his mist. He had never experienced that before.

"You are in my cabin."
