Unsure if it's the effect of the medication, Sylvan Cheney's mind gradually calms down as he closes his eyes, leaning back in his seat.
In a daze, he actually falls asleep.
Almost like usual, as soon as he falls asleep, he starts dreaming.
Various dreams pass through his mind like a movie, continuously moving like a carousel, fragmented scenes one after another.
"Who's telling you to climb the tree, come down! If I catch you again, stay up there and don't come down!" In the dream, he stands under a sycamore tree in the yard, scolding the little girl up on the tree.
The little girl fearfully clings to the branch, trembling legs, daring not come down.
Later, he uses a ladder to bring her down.
"This is your final exam score? Ninth last?" Another scene flashes, he sits on the sofa at home, reprimanding the silent girl with her head down, "What do you normally do in class? Hm?"
"Ninth is already good... no one helps me with homework." She retorts.
"Not ninth, ninth last!"
