"Are you trying to get us killed?"
"If you want to die, don't take us with you. I don't want to die yet."
"Scared me to death, boo hoo..."
"Why did it have to turn out like this? When will it end? Where has the government gone?!"
The crowd was a bit agitated, cursing the old woman and then the government, soon starting to curse the heavens and ancestors of eighteen generations.
Negative emotions are contagious.
In just a moment, many people began crying, cursing, and shouting, like a market scene.
"Silence!" the captain scolded, "We won't give up on you. Everyone must have confidence. No one wanted this to happen."
The captain quickly calmed the crowd down.
He looked at the old woman, "Were you bitten by a zombie just now?"
The old woman immediately shook her head, "No, I wasn't hurt," and proactively showed her hands for everyone to see.
The captain looked over the old woman, finding no blood or scratch marks, and nodded, "We'll rest here tonight."
