"What?" Her mother asked shock written all over her face. "She left this note." Iris said and handed over a piece of paper to her mum. On it was written: "Dear mum,dad and Iris,I'm sorry for what I'm about to do but I have no choice. Please forgive me, I have to jilt my darling Adrien and I hope he can forgive me, I know this will ruin your reputation but please forgive me, my hands are currently tied and I can't tell you anything but I promise I'll return but I don't know how long it will take but I will and I'll tell you everything but for now please forgive me and bear with me
I know I'm breaking everyone's heart by decision but please forgive me. Take care of yourselves, goodbye for now and remember I love you all. Your darling daughter, Maris."
After reading the letter, Mrs Roberts almost collapsed and she broke down in
tears. "Why has my own daughter decided to ruin our family like this, she has ruined our reputation. What are we going to tell Adrien now. He must be waiting for his bride, how on earth do we break the news to him that she has run away and left him in the altar." Her mother wailed.
"Dear get a grip on yourself,we must find a way to sort this out. Adrien must never find out that Maris ran away." Mr Roberts said trying to act bravely like the man he was.
"But How dear? We're doomed for sure, Adrien will surely make our lives hell when he finds out thinking that we're trying to mock him." Mrs Roberts lamented.
"Mum please come down, your health will detoriate if you keeping crying like this. We can face this together as a family, we must stay strong. We'll have to pacify Adrien some how." Iris had suggested innocently.
Just then Mr Roberts looked at Iris keenly and a smile lit his face. "Our problem is solved." Mr Roberts announced happily.
"How?" Both mother and daughter questioned simultaneously. "You Iris are the solution to our problem." Mr Roberts said. "How father?" Iris questioned. Mr Roberts walked up to her and held her chin up beholding her lovely face that beheld a ravishing beauty.
"Your face is perfect. You being an identical twin can finally be of some use to us. Your mother will just have to dress you in Maris' wedding gown, you pretend to be her and marry Adrien. You're identical so he'll never know." Mr Roberts concocted.
"I'm sorry father I can't do this. I can't pretend to be Maris especially when it concerns getting married. I can't deceive Adrien like this, I would never be able to live with myself and I wouldn't be happy neither would Adrien so we just have to tell him the truth." Iris said.
"Shut up. You have no idea what we're dealing with, you'll marry Adrien and that's final. You don't need to say much, only two words which are 'I do'. If you refuse then I'll disown right here and now and you'll never step foot in my house." Mr Roberts threatened.
"Father please don't do this." Iris pleaded in tears but no one listened. She was meant to be the sacrificial lamb.
Thus, she was dressed up in every splendour and grace. Her veil covering her face, she was forcefully wedded to Adrien. When he was to kiss his bride,Adrien lifted the veil to behold the pretty face of his bride and he smiled not knowing he had been fooled. Iris refused to meet his gaze, she felt guilty to no end and when he kissed her so passionately, she wept silently in her heart.
