Cherreads

Chapter 84 - .

After fighting the cowardly hell beast and burning half the countryside of multiple countries. Elrik the Red scaled Dragon began searching for his family, and others of his kin to get reacquainted after such a long sleep, but no matter how hard he looked there wasn't a trace of them, even sometimes questioning if he even had a family which perturbed him to no end.

He grew tired of looking and fighting human metal birds that fired pieces of metal that bounced off his scales, and annoying explosives that at first only gave him a headache, and pushed him around a bit, but then grew painful later as he did his best to dodge and tear through them one by one. His flame breath proving to be most effective at keeping them at bay.

Deciding to try the other large landmass, traveling across the sea faster than any jet as he grew more and more impatient. Anger rising as he sees human filth everywhere, dotting seas and the lands, occasionally unleashing waves of fire breaths on unsuspecting vessels and then small towns along the way, but avoiding the more populated areas so as not to have to deal with those metal birds again.

Able to enter the airspace easily enough thanks to unknowingly flying below the radar after losing most surveillance across his ocean trek.

His head turns as he finally senses a potential dragon, but just as quickly as it appeared it disappeared. Increasing his speed to try and find it.

Slowing when he spots a humanoid creature flying toward him, one that seemed more familiar the closer it got.

A draconic grin adorning his face as he calls out,- "Nevan you old smelly mutt, still alive I see, if it wasn't for your dog stench I wouldn't even recognize you, how long has it been my old friend?"

Nevan in his black Noblesse form arrived in front of the mighty red dragon who was sporting fresh shallow wounds along his belly and face which intrigued him a bit but otherwise didn't care if Elrik won.

Scowling, Nevan forced it into a grin,- "As if I'd die before some fat lazy lizard who somehow managed to not rot after so many thousands of years, how many? Even I can't be sure, but it's safe to say too many, Elrik, my very old friend."

Elrik eyes narrow,- "I see you went through an Interesting change, as a great many other things did on this putrid world, hmmm, and I see you can fly now, I wonder how that happened, tell me something Nevan, where are my family and the rest of my kin?"

"Rest of your kind?" Asks a confused Nevan,- "Are you still half asleep? I'm sorry to wake you from such a nice dream, but we both know you're the only Dragon who has ever lived, I have yet to see another after all this time."

Elrik furrowed his brows, taken aback. Thinking Nevan as the prime suspect, but to deny his family have ever existed wasn't something he wasn't expecting,- "What games are you playing at Nevan?" He growled angrily.

"I know you Nevan, I know what you are capable of, this new look changes nothing, if you don't give me some proper answers, I will roast you alive."

"I'm sorry?" Questions a greatly confused Nevan, unsure of what to say. "I honestly have no clue what you're talking about, you seem to be confused, let's just calm down and talk things out..."

"WHERE ARE THEY NEVAN?!" Shouted Elrik with a mighty roar, scolding hot breath and sparks of flames licking Nevan's fur.

"HOW CAN YOU FLY NEVAN? WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM?!" Elrik roars, losing what little patients he had left. Not believing for a second Nevan was being honest with him, catching a mild but very familiar scent off of him.

Their past relationship was strenuous at best, with both parties feeling like they could take the other due to their alpha pride, but neither willing to test the water, either due to laziness in the case of Elrik or lack of interest on Nevan's part. Somehow developing a small bond of mutual respect because of it, though deep down Elrik with his dragon pride didn't for one second truly believe Nevan was even in the same league as him, thinking it would always end with Nevan running along the ground like a rat while Elrik works hard trying to smush him before he gets away.

"Look..." Was all Nevan was able to get out before Elrik charged him spewing flames.

Dodging the wave of fire, Nevan gets caught off guard as a hidden claw attack bursts through the flames smacking him down to the ground with a loud boom.

Flashing back into the air behind Elrik, Nevan shouts,- "Dammit Elrik Listen To Me First!"

Elrik swoops around,- "I know everything I need to, you smell just like those cultists who drove me out of my home, and now I find the rest of my kind all but gone, and here you are with new abilities, I'm going to make you pay Nevan, I'M GOING TO BURN YOU ALIVE!" He roared shooting another fire breath at him.

Nevan flew higher and faster, staying just out of range while trying to resolve things peacefully,- "Cultist? Look, you got things all wrong, I've also had a run-in with them, they are my enemies too."

"LIES! You think I can't tell the difference between a scent that's casually on you and one that's woven into your very being, enough talk, just wait until I get my claws on you, I've always wanted to try roasted dog."

Nevan eyes twitched as he thought about the Jaguar he ate and realized there was no way to calmly explain things in this situation.

Growing tired of caring about such a crazed disrespectful old reptile, Nevan sneered as he avoided another strike, giving his old friend one last warning,- "Don't make me kill you Elrik, I'd hate never again seeing such a comically fat lizard flying through the sky," said Nevan with a smirk, knowing it was only going to make things worst.

"I'LL KILL YOU!" Elrik roared.
